Weekend: La Digue and Praslin on Jeep
The ferry from Praslin to La Digue left several times a day but we wanted to take the very first one, so we took a taxi to the ferry dock and got on the 7am as the sun came up. Our only to-do, besides walking around and having fun, was to stop at a bank and purchase the 40-dollar exit coupons we were going to need. When we got off the ferry, it was too early for the bank so we walked over to the cemetery around Pointe Cap Barbi. On the way over, Jake noticed the huge coconut spiders all over the trees. Some of these were as big as my hand. huge, ferocious looking, yet completely harmless.

We walked all over the cemetery, watched the chickens pecking around with their little chicks, and walked around for a while until the banks opened. We took pictures of the ox carts. On the way over to L'Union Estate, a dog befriended us and decided to follow us around. He always stayed a few steps behind but walked with us for quite some time. the Union Estate housed a colonial cemetery, a coconut and copra factory, pen of giant tortoises, horseback riding, and the path to La Digue's - or even one of the world's - most famous beach: Anse Source D'argent. This is by far the most photographed beach on the islands. A collection of ads are filmed here and it is common to find models posing on its waters.

By now it was several hours into the day and I was wiped, so Jake and I asked someone to take us to Grand Anse, the next beach we were told to visit. We ate a delicious lunch of cheese sandwich and fresh fruits right outside the beach and walked around to the Petite Anse. We then took another truck back to Chateau St-Cloud to have a drink and met two locals. One of whom worked on Aldabra.

Saturday night we found out that the seas were too harsh and we couldn't take a tour to Aride, much to our dismay. So we decided to rent a jeep to drive around Praslin and go back to Cousin on Tuesday morning to take some pictures. Even though, we meant to go to the casino at night, yet again we were wiped and decided to stay in the hotel.

On Sunday, we rented a jeep, as opposed to the all-popular but not-in-such-good-shape Mokes. Jake wanted to drive up all the side roads we'd glimpsed at so we went all around and discovered every inch of Praslin. Bought some more under-water cameras to prepare for Monday's snorkeling, ate dinner and decided to forgo the casino once more.
