Frequently Asked Questions

I just wanted to have a page where I could collect all the questions I get asked often so I could have one place to point people to. You can always ask me more or different questions. I will do my very best to answer!

  1. What is your name? Karen or Karenika?
My name is Karen. I go by Karenika online because it’s unique and so always available as a user name. My parents call me Karenika as it’s a diminutive. Everyone else calls me Karen.

  2. I’d like to link to your blog, do you have a badge?
Thank you so much, that is so kind of you. Yes, I have one and you can see it on the left side of my page. Here’s the code for it:

    <a href=”https://www.karenika.com”><img src=”http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn127/karenika1/karenika_button.jpg”></a>

If you copy that exactly it should work. You can always email me if it doesn’t seem to work for you. Thanks again!

  3. What kind of camera do you use?
Over the course of publishing at karenika.com, I’ve had many different cameras. My current one is a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

  4. What lenses do you use?
The lens I use most of the time is the 85mm 1.8 Canon lens. If I need a slightly wider angle, I will use the Canon 50mm 1.8.

Here are three others lenses I have that I use occasionally: Canon 17-40 4.0, Canon 70-200 4.0, and Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro.

  5. How do you make those journaling lines on your layouts?
I found an old journaling stamp and cut out the middle. This post has a photo and explanation of what I did. I am confident that you can look at journaling spots you have at hand and make something that works for you. I wanted something with small, close-up lines.

  6. Where can I find your videos on photography?
Click here for all of them.

  7. Where can I find your videos on photoshop tips?
Click here for all of them.

This is it for now. Feel free to email me at karen AT karenika DOT com with any questions!

I just found your blog from Little Yellow Bicycle and have subscribed now. I love the ATC truth cards and will try to make some myself. Thanks.

I really appreciate your blog. All that you share is so inspirational. Thank you.

I noted that the URL for your badge shows only 2 ww’s and wonder if that is a typo?

    Thx.

  • Your blog is my favorite of all time! I love you’re doing so many projects on top of your busy life! When I grow up I wanna be like you! A little bit late for that, but still…

I wanted to point out that your quick links on the left side bar, under “Books”, is not pointing to the right place. I was expecting to see all your books reviews, but they’re some scrapbook layouts.

A question – do you use any plug-in for your galleries? I love your galleries and how they point back to the original post. I searched up and down the past two days in wordpress but couldn’t find a good plugin for it. The most popular wp gallery – nextgen gallery doesn’t link back to the original posts.

    Thanks!

    Hi Karen

I just read your post over at Balzer Designs (this one: http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com/balzer_designs/2011/11/art-journal-every-day-discovering-her-style.html#comment-6a00d8341c766153ef017ee3ed0ea4970d), and you talk about loose leaf pages. I was wondering if you have any posts about how you organise your loose pages and how you put them together in the end? I feel like for me, loose leaf pages are what I need, but I don’t know how to manage them once I’ve got a stack! Thanks for any help or ideas you can share!!

  • I love your art. I am the Co-Founder for Saving Grace Alliance For Seniors. We are a charity 501 (c) (3) that helps senior citizens after they have a disaster by replacing wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. We are having a fund raiser in July and I was wondering if you would donate something for us to use in our Auction. We will be sure and tell where it is from and give everyone there your information. We can send you a tax receipt for your donation.

Thank you for considering helping us.

What stunning images. May I say what a beautiful talent you have. I am currently in the process of releasing my collection of stunning journals, the first being Be The Human Sunshine. The pocket/ bag books are inspirational, soul restorative and real, based on everyday life.
Well. May I say I thought I was finished with the images I wanted, until I came across your site. Currently my whole collection is inclusive of images by world famous fantasy artist Josephine Wall they too are stunning. I would so love to use some of your images in my collection, do you have a licensing program enabling use of your images. Or how much would it be to use your images? I have twelve books in the collection, this as I said being the first, therefore, I have been very particular about the image of the collection. I think your pictures would fit perfectly. The books are inclusive of writings from world famous authors, they really are beautiful. I really hope I can include your drawings/ paintings in the collection. If not, that is fine and I wish you every success with your work. Absolutely stunning.
