Today is a page with Nathaniel writing the letters of the alphabet. I had one of these last year, too. I love seeing how different they are each year.

The next page is about my ring. This year’s ring says: kind • present • listen

there we go. That’s day seven.
Today is all about Vasona Park. This is a yearly tradition for us. And My favorite light is this peace one.

They hand out 3-d glasses each year and this year’s were candy cane and stars. I love keeping these, too.

there we go. That’s day six.
Today is about Hannukah. While we’re not huge observers, I still like to make sure there’s at least one page to remember it.

I love seeing this in my journal.
there we go. That’s day five. See you tomorrow.
For day four, I wanted to capture the Advent calendars. I like the idea of having something small to look forward to each day in December. This is how I feel about my December Daily so I like capturing the boys’ calendars and little lego adventures.

David decided to do some sketching in the morning, too so I asked him if I could have his paper when he’s done.

and I made sure he signed and dated it.

I love having these pieces of their life right now in my book year after year.
there we go. That’s day four. See you tomorrow.
For day three, we’re all about media. Since December started right after Thanksgiving break this year, we had a bunch of downtime right away. We spent that time watching movies and reading (and other activities too but I wanted to make sure to note them as this is one of the things I like looking back on, over the years.)
We started our weekend by seeing Frozen.

we then took photos at the booth nearby and I added that:

on the back, I added photos for some of the books I’ve been reading:

and this is the actual page I’d done before. I added the posters for 3 other movies we saw (some was just Jake and me) and did a bit of journaling.

there we go. That’s day three. See you tomorrow.
For day two, I decided to journal about putting up our Christmas Tree.

No matter how I tried, the photo didn’t come out nice so there we go. I liked journaling right on the page and not overthinking it.
I then added a little photo of the butterfly ornaments I bought this year that I love. (And you can see a sneak of the next page which I already started.)

there we go. That’s day two. See you tomorrow.
This is my seventh year doing a December Daily album. Over that time, I’ve developed some traditions for the album. For example, I finish each year with my OLW for the next year and I often put a photo of tulips on my last page.
Another tradition I have is for the first page. A few years ago, I begun my album with “and so it begins” and I decided that I liked it so much that it would be how I start each year. Some years I also add photos of us and some years I don’t. This year, I did not.

I’ve been a huge fan of gold lately and I am happy to see that it’s popular, though it doesn’t photograph so well. This page has the beautiful gold deer:

and here’s one more look so you can see the dimensional wood, too.

there we go. That’s day one. See you tomorrow.
I know I am a bit late with this but I actually prepared my December Daily pre-pages months ago as they were a part of the Gossamer Blue December Memories class. I was lucky enough to receive the stunning kit and put my little book together like this:

And there we go. Tomorrow I’ll post the first page.

Bev you’re the recipient of the spot in the class:
Bev Montague said I would love a chance to win a spot in this class. I have tons of stories I tell to my kids, but I really struggle with putting them down on paper. I think a class like this might just be what I need to finally get the stories on paper. Thanks for the chance.
I’ll email you Bev.
I wish I could give a spot to everyone because I really like my classes full. When they are full the message boards are hopping and we get wonderful dialog going. I hope you consider signing up and I look forward to seeing you in class!

My very first class for Big Picture was one on journaling. My style, supplies and even taste has changed over the years but my love of journaling never has. I still believe that journaling gives your layouts that extra bit of depth and meaning and is the best way to add your individual voice to each of your pages.
When I was teaching that course (and a few others) I got a lot of comments around people not knowing which stories to tell, or how to make sure there was enough room on the layout, or how to remember each story. That’s when I decided to write Book of Stories.

This class is designed to help you generate, write, collect, and organize your stories so that when you sit down to scrapbook, your stories are already there waiting for you. It’s a class that is unique to each of you individually. I don’t tell you what to do, but how to find what works for you. How to customize it for your own needs and preferences.
My classes are always full of student participation because they are meant to be organic and customizable. So if you like process classes and if you want to get better about your storytelling journey, I hope you’ll join me in the class!

If you’d like a spot in my class, just leave me a comment below. Like last time either tell me a class you’d like me to teach, or something joyful from your day or just say hi.
I will leave comments open for a week for this one because my class starts next Thursday.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask in comments and I hope to see you in class!
UPDATED: Looks like lucky number 7 was the recipient!

I would for you to teach a time management class. 🙂

Today I have a super-fun giveaway for you!!
Art + Science of Scrapbooking, 16 brain-boosting challenges to strengthen your creative process taught by Stacy Julian and Jennifer Wilson
Here’s a little bit about this awesome class:
Are you a right-brained person who embraces possibility and spontaneity, thrives on imagination, relies on feelings, and thinks in symbols and images? Are you a left-brained person who practices strategy and order, finds comfort in facts, relies on logic, and thinks in words and language?
The answer to both questions is “yes!” In The Art + Science of Scrapbooking, a mind-bending workshop from Stacy Julian and Jennifer Wilson, you’ll learn to harness the creative power of both sides of your brain.
In four illuminating weeks, right-brainer Stacy Julian and left-brainer Jennifer Wilson will help you embrace your natural cognitive strengths. But they’ll also challenge themselves, each other, and YOU to find a new sense of balance and power as you explore the other side of your brain.
I am sure you know that a class with both Jennifer and Stacy will be nothing short of absolutely amazing. So if you’d like to have a spot in the class, just leave a comment with either a class you might like to have me teach or something fun that happened to you today. Or just say hi. Class starts tomorrow so I will announce a winner Friday morning to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Since I will not get to write tonight either apparently, I figured I’ll share a recent layout with you. This one is almost all My Mind’s Eye and was made for the Big Picture Classes’ recent NSD Creative Crop.

My challenge was to use your own handwriting. When was the last time you used it on a layout?
Here are few different shots from it:
