December Daily 2015 – Day 18

And here we are for day eighteen.

Today’s about the holiday performances at the kids’ schools. Thursday was David’s where he played the baritone and it was spectacular. Friday was Nathaniel and he was wonderful, too. We then got to go to Nathaniel’s class so I took a photo of him with his teachers, too.

journaling is under the photo:

and then i added the programs:

a lovely way to end the school for 2015.

December Daily 2015 – Day 17

And here we are for day seventeen.

I finally hit submit on all of David’s applications. This has been a big part of our year. There are still bits to go but we’re pretty much done so I wanted to commemorate that.

Here’s to hoping it ends well.

December Daily 2015 – Day 16

And here we are for day sixteen.

Today’s story is about David’s class, they had their holiday party and I was volunteering in the class. Part of the celebration was for each kid to bring in a book from their library for a Secret Santa. David’s secret partner got him this wonderful science book and gave a sweet card. So I snapped a photo in the class when the kids went around and tried to guess their secret santa and then I added her card into the next sleeve.

here’s the sweet card:

only 9 days to Christmas. This year really has flown by.

A Book a Week – The Girl on the Train

I read The Girl on the Train because there was a lot of hype around it. Amazon recommended it. It was supposed to be like Gone Girl but much better. I am not sure why that convinced me since I hated Gone Girl so much.

But I picked it up anyway. I read it really fast. I liked it better than Gone Girl. Partly because the ending wasn’t such a twist ending for me. But I still don’t think it was a good book. I am so done with books where all the characters are unlikeable. What’s the point? What does it teach me about life?

Meh.

Not recommended.

December Daily 2015 – Day 15

And here we are for day fifteen.

Today’s story is all about writing letters to Santa. I loved this one photo so much that I decided to blow it up to be full page.

it has some shimmery letters.

and in the back I put two other photos I love. Especially Nathaniel’s facial expression in the first one:

Between the two, I put both of the kids’ letters form this year and then I used the original page to do some journaling.

yey for December!

December Daily 2015 – Day 14

And here we are for day fourteen.

Today’s story is the Tech Challenge and David, Jake and Nathaniel having a moment playing with and having a moment with David’s weekly assignment for the challenge.

I love love love having these moments in my journal.

December Daily 2015 – Day 13

And here we are for day thirteen.

Each year, I like to have a page about the wrapped Christmas presents and how each kid gets their own wrapping. We also make a special one for Christmas-eve presents. And we get the same present for both boys for Christmas eve. So this page is all about that tradition.

i love the way this album mixed the magic of holidays and the magic of ordinary life. I love looking at the joyful photos and the typical life photos and the moments that are so specific to where we are in life in this moment. What a gift this little album is each year.

December Daily 2015 – Day 12

And here we are for day twelve.

Another really simple page, I know but this one makes me happy, too. The photo is from the doctor’s office where the kids got their flu shots. David didn’t want his photo taken and was messing with me by covering the camera or his face. When I saw this one in the photos, I immediately knew I wanted to add it to my album.

the ordinary moments of my life make me so grateful.

December Daily 2015 – Day 11

And here we are for day eleven.

Today’s story is about taking a rest day and then having it be really busy anyway. I wrote a bunch of all the different things I did today but the main part is about meeting my Young Adult book group and how wonderful it was.

this year’s album is so much simpler than usual for me, but I still love looking through it.

December Daily 2015 – Day 10

And here we are for day ten.

Today’s story is about being in Nathaniel’s classroom. I spent the morning doing circle time with him and it was so very wonderful. I picked the photo I loved the most, cut it to 4×4 and added it on there as a flap.

and the journaling is on the other side with some more photos from the class :

the light here has been really bad but here’s an attempt at a closeup.

December Daily 2015 – Day 9

And here we are for day nine.

Today’s story is about Hannukah. I captured this shot and then as I looked at it, I realized it had a menorah, christmas ornaments and the turkish evil eye so it struck me how it was such a perfect capture of the many sides of my life and identity so I decided I wanted to write about that.

and here’s the back with the story:

I loved the original page 9 page a lot so I left it as is and will do the back for day 10.

December Daily 2015 – Day 8

And here we are for day eight.

Today’s another three little stories, I like this idea quite a bit. Especially for variety. I also like how I can see through some of the pockets to day 6.

These stories are about watching David basketball and how brave he is for showing up and how they won their game in the last 20 seconds. And then another one about a middle school we had to visit for part of the application process and how brave and wonderful he’s being with that, too. and finally a story about coding and how David was so inspired last week at a school that he spent his day and night programming in Python.

yey! 🙂
