Making: my swatches for the limited palette I will use for @fodder.school I love the idea of keeping a journal for the experience. I bought the @willa.wanders set from @alittlecreative.me using the @renesanspolska watercolors. I then replicated those colors with acrylic and gouache and saw all the variety those colors could mix into.

 

So much fun.

Watercoloring and lettering: I finally started my @fodder.school 1lesson 1 where @tiffanysimplysharpe teaches us to make these beautiful watercolor flowers so I made a page with them and then used this amazing quote from @lizelayne side by side class. I had heard the ending of this quote by camus but never the full thing. It’s magnificent.

 

As I was making this page the whole time I had the fear of messing it up and I had to keep reminding myself that it’s a journal and that’s exactly what journals are here for. To experiment, to mess up, to try again. It’s always a process to quiet the inner critic.

Sketching: here’s last night’s house. Here’s what I am learning so far: For me, drawing can be long and tedious and it’s hard. So the best way to get better at it is to slow down and give myself grace and find the joy in the process. When I find myself wanting to be done, I find I am rushing and then the outcome is not to my liking and then I feel defeated and discouraged. So for me it’s better to pick topics that I like and really allow myself to slow down and enjoy the process and start with houses that feel joyful to tackle.
