Catalyst 128 – I will Always be At Home with You

Catalyst One Hundred and Twenty-Eight is: What are you (or would you be) giving your children that you wish you’d had?

Journaling Reads:
When I was a little girl, my mom always worked. When I got home from school, she wasn’t there and it made me sad. I vowed back then that I would always be home for my kids when they came home and wanted to talk about their day. My mom was wonderful but I did wish she was around more.

    Hi Karen,
Love this layout, especially the cards and the colors. This was my dream too for my kids. My mom had to work and I missed her so much. I remember the day my husband came home from work and said honey, I got a raise a good enough one that you can stay home with the kids. I was only working partime at night but I missed being away. I still stay at home and make some sacrifices just so I can but it’s so so worth it everytime I see them get off the bus. Thanks for reminding me.

Karen, I love this layout (use of white space, sewing, journalling blocks) and with the help of one of your prompts from the Imbrace Imperfection class I am looking at others’ layouts differently and intentionally noting what it is exactly that I like–all in hopes of developing my style. You are a wonderful teacher; I see you as the kind of teacher that enables her students to develope “critical thinking” not rote memorization. So, thank-you for helping my scrapbooking and thank-you for this prompt. It encouraged me to think about my mother, what she gave me and what I want my children and grandchildren to remember about me. I’m thrilled that I discovered your blog. Thanks for all you share.

  • I love this layout, and totally relate to the sentiment behind it – my husband works long hours for the same reason, so I can stay home with our kids, especially now as the big ones enter teenage-dom.

    Hi Karen,
I too loved this layout and my Mom worked but either I called her or she called me when I came home. This was in the 50’s 60’s before the term latch key kids was used.
I am enjoying Embrace Perfection and I think you and May have similar goals for us. Today one of her assignments was to look over our layouts and decide what we like best. Sounded so similar to yours last week. You are a wonderful teacher. Keep up the good work.
