2011 Projects – A Book A Week

This is another project I did in 2010 that I loved. I really enjoy the arts and crafts, too but reading has a special place in my heart. So for 2011 I decided to continue my “a book a week” goal. Some weeks I won’t get to finish it and that’s ok but I know that I will read a whole lot more if I set this goal.

Here is my current list of 2011 books. They’re alphabetically sorted and you’ll see most of them are fiction. Some are young adult. Some are nonfiction. Some are from last year and some are new. I might only read a few on this list or many, it doesn’t matter, the idea is just to have a starting point.

Little Bee was one of my favorites last year, also Countdown by Deborah Wiles about the Cuban missile crisis (teen fiction) and Theodore Boon, Kid Lawyer by John Grisham. Happy Reading. 🙂

I loved ‘The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest’, infact I loved all three of these books. Enjoy!

    May I make a suggestion?

Malorie Blackman the noughts and crosses trilogy. Its kidult fiction but very thought provoking. I have bought myself a couple off your last year’s list. Next up to read phantom tollbooth

he is probably too young at 6. I think I would probably not let my children read it until 12. Some of the topics are a bit ‘grown up’

do let me know if you read it and how you get on…..I would be interested to see if it translates across the pond

  • Great list! I will look forward to your reviews. After doing a book a week this past year, I am doing book titles A-Z, plus my monthly book club. I will be posting my list of planned titles later and that makes me very nervous! I guess I always want the flexibility to go off the path and not be locked in. If you can do it, I can do it! Happy 2011!

ooh I was wondering if you were planning on continuing for 2011. I am so glad you are!! What do you mean book titles A-Z? don’t feel locked in. Read what inspires you or what you enjoy. life’s short 🙂 and this is our time we spend for ourselves 🙂 can’t wait to see what you read!

Wow, your book list is extensive! Have you ever tried reading the Bible? I encourage you to giving it a try. It will touch your soul and change your life in a beautiful way. I have read it three times (in its entirety), and I am starting my fourth Bible reading journey in 2011. It’s the only book I read.

Loved Devil in the White City (and I hear there’s a movie coming out for it too)–just fascinating history there about the World Fair (other parts were morbid); also liked The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Are you on GoodReads.com? That’s where I keep my booklist – currently in progress and those I’m interested in. I get most of mine from the library, so not sure when I’ll get what I request–but it’s a delightful surprise.
