Daily Diary – May 23 2011

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Aksel and Jeff!!!!!! I love you so so much. I cannot believe they are twelve already!

Quiet day filled with work today. I have a pretty tight but flowing routine going these days and I really love it. There’s a small noise at the back of my mind that tells me that I must be weird to enjoy routine so much but I am really enjoying it so I try to tell it to stay quiet.

When David came home today we sat outside for a bit while I read to David and then they played by themselves.

Nathaniel even gave me a smile.

Here he is asking me if he can eat the Play Doh. And David’s making his spider run up the umbrella.

We have a guest coming for dinner tonight so I have to rush through a few of my daily todo list items. I am going to cut it short. I hope you are all doing well. It’s been quiet here lately but I am still here and hoping you are, too.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful for happy mail. Some wonderful scrappy stuff came today.
2. I am grateful that Christy Tomlinson’s new class started today. Nothing like art videos to make me happy.
3. I am grateful for summer. I love walking around and soaking up the sunrays. Always puts me in a good mood.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we are reading a new book at school. It’s called The Stories Julian tells. {* his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I will play on the computer.
3. I am grateful that I got a prize from the prize box at school (the spider the above photo).

  • I’m here. Reading, just not commenting on much of anything lately, sadly. In some other world in my head, I guess.

Routine is nice. I miss full-fledged timelines/routines. Don’t let that nagging voice tell you there’s anything weird about it! 🙂

    Hi Karen,

I’m still here too! It’s just been very hectic lately, my job is at a real stressful point right now. It will smooth out in about a month, but it’s been exhausting!

My kids are close to finally settling the custody battle over Carmen. I think they are going to end up having her change homes about every 2-3 days, which was what I wanted least for her. It’s been stressful for her having so much tension swirling around her though, so maybe if it’s settled, they can at least calm her environment down. They both love her, I know that they will both be good to her, but I wouldn’t want to have to think about where my “home” is day to day… I’ve always told her that home is where there are people who love you, and that she’s lucky that so many people really really love her and want her. Just so she’s ok, that’s what really matters.

You guys don’t seem to have pets, but I have a new baby kitten who is making me very happy. I already had 4 cats (all indoors) but someone dumped a 6 week old kitten on my doorstep 3 weeks ago, so now I have 5 again. I really didn’t want any more, but it’s so hard to find homes for them, and there he was, a shivering infant on my doorstep! I love my current group, but 2 or 3 would really be enough! But the baby is just a sweetheart, and both my husband and I are crazy for him, so there we are.

    Have a good long weekend!

i would love to have a pet! I am allergic to cats. (really bad!! like my eyeballs swell) and all furry animals and a dog is just too much work with the current life we have 🙂 maybe when i am older, i can get a greyhound. i am so glad there’s been progress with carmen’s custody and i know what you mean about stability. and i do totally agree that home is where people love you and it’s a wonderful way to approach it and she’s so lucky to have you as a grandma!!
