Daily Diary – September 30 2010

When Jake came back from picking David up from school, he walked in with a big box of flowers. He said “somebody loves you more than I do, they’re not from me.” I had no idea who they could possibly be from. And to my amazement and incredible delight, they were from the My Mind’s Eye team!!! That company and Amber are absolutely amazing! Not only have they sent me all these incredible products and given me the opportunity to guest but now flowers, too! I am deeply deeply grateful. Thank you Amber and thank you My Mind’s Eye. You have truly spoiled me silly.

The little boy awoke feeling much better thankfully. He was in good spirits for most of the day. Still coughing some and wheezing some but overall much much better.

I had a ton of catching up at work since I took a personal day yesterday so while Nathaniel napped I worked like crazy and got a huge amount of work done. Jake was home today so he took David from and to the bus which really helped me so much. David’s favorite activity lately is to color and he’s amazingly good at it.

He’s my stunning boy with the amazing eyes.

I love this shot of Nathaniel with the smile even though he won’t look up at me.

And a fast catch.

He loves sitting at David’s table now and David mostly sits at the dining table so I guess this table’s Nathaniel’s for the most part.

I also finished my 979 page book today and caught up on my class at BPS and tonight I hope to finally reply to comments and emails and then I can start on some of my longer term projects like writing the 2011 BPS class and figuring out the blog plan for 2011. Any ideas? Are these diary entries annoying you? Should I continue them? I was thinking I might bring back Digital Downloads. Continue with the books and layouts. Some posts on non-scrappy crafts like sewing, embroidery, painting, etc. Maybe some more longer written pieces like the gratitude entries? Are those boring? I’m told people don’t like to read long things but i like writing them…I can’t decide if I should do another 52 things. All these thoughts on my mind. Any ideas? Suggestions? Criticism? I’m open to hearing it all.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that Nathaniel seems to be on the road to recovery.
2. I am grateful for the amazing, stunning flowers from My Mind’s Eye
3. I am grateful that I got a ton of work done and feel more caught up than I did in weeks. Much more to go but i feel progress is now being made.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. coloring
2. playing secret i spy with maggie at school
3. doing my reading with mommy

  • Oh I do hope you keep the diary entries, I love reading them. I’d love to see more BPS mentions here as well as more of your crafting. I’m currently taking your Book of Stories class. Whatever you plan for your blog for 2011 I’ll be around to read it.

thank you so much. what do you mean with more BPS mentions? I want to make sure I understand. Thank you so much for your kind kind words!! 🙂

  • I’m curious as to what type of class you’re planning at BPC for 2011. I’m taking my first instructor-led one, and I’d love to try another next year. I also love your digital downloads. I’ve used them in at least two different applications since I found them about 3 months ago. I think reading your last paragraph just made me go “whoa….” and “wow” at the same time. I wouldn’t even think about what I’d be planning for next year at this point. Then again, I’m more of a fly by the seat of my pants type of person. But I enjoy reading pretty much all of your entries. 🙂

Chris, the class for early 2011 is on exploring and finding your own way of scrapbooking. it’s what i did in May and the idea is that when you finish the class, you’ll ahve your own authentic way of scrapping and your personal toolset of scrappy supplies and process. I need to learn to explain it better! more coming soon i promise. 🙂 here’s the vision statement i wrote for it:

“This class is designed to help students put together their own creating toolset and help them get an understanding of the products/process they use while creating so that they can make sure to have those items at hand and create more smoothly and easily. Most significantly so they can create layouts/projects that feel 100% authentic to them and their artistic and inherent personality.”

thank you for your kind words. i am an over-planner so it doesn’t feel too early to me 🙂

  • I love your blog just as it is and find every single part inspiring. I especially find interesting the crafts you do as it’s got me curious and interested – I’m a die-hard scrapbooker but I’m loving your mini-books, sketches, art journalling and crotcheting. Debbie xxx

  • I am really enjoying reading your blog as it is, however you have asked for feedback so…

In regard to your diary entries – I like reading about the things you discover, notice, enjoy. I’m not so keen on the regular everyday life things such as quick mentions of taking David to school or working while Nathaniel napped. If something special/different happened when taking David to school, then that’s different. Having said all this, I’m a scrapbooker and can totally understand wanting to record everyday life and if you want to keep your diary entries exactly as is, I’m still going to keep reading. 🙂

As a scrapbooker I love seeing your layouts. I would also enjoy reading about other crafts and anything you find inspiring. Just generally, I think if you are excited about something it comes across in how you write and it makes it interesting for the reader, regardless of topic.

And I am happy to read long posts. I have been really enjoying your gratitude posts.

  • I love reading your posts.
Because I value the journaling…I will read long posts.
I loved your weekly downloads too, and your photoshop/ camera tips.
Your boys remind me of mine at that age and that makes me smile.
I love your nature photos, glimpses of your home and neighbourhood, even your outfits and shoes. What can I say… I don’t get out much? LOL.
Your new BPS class sounds great, will it be applicable/appropriate for digi scrappers too?
I am leaning further that way now, am so loving the instant gratification that brings.
Basically whatever you decide to do will be great with me.

please oh please don’t change a thing….well actually, you can add more things but please keep on telling us about your life, your children and posting those amazing photos, your layouts and everything else (bossy me??? lol). your blog is a breath of fresh air in my day. I love it as it is. I would love to learn more about your class. It sounds awesome and just what I need.

  • The Digital Downloads is how I found you, so they would be a great item to see back in the rotation. I don’t know if I would change a thing, unless that’s what YOU want to change. I’m always up for learning how-to, especially with adding those borders to your photos or any special settings you might be using to take your photographs. I’m still learning in all things related to photography.

Great job. And whatever changes you make, I’ll still be here.

I love the diary like entry approach! The other you are proposing sounds fine – just wanted to let you know that some people do like the longer entries!!

    Karen

I love your blog the way it is and would love whatever you decide to do with your blog.

At the end of the day, I think that blogs are expressions of ourselves. Whether anyone reads your blogs or not, blogs should be about “you” so you should put whatever you want on it, whether it is pictures of your family, what you did that day, scrapbook pages, quotes etc.

I get great inspiration from your blog and thank you for it.

    Love Lesley x

  • I love you – and your blog just the way you are!

  • OK, trying to take the time to give you some feedback…
I am loving your blog entries as they are: I love the variety of topics, I love that there is a new entry to read every day, I love the mix of beautiful nature pics & your everyday life with pics of the kids, I love the variety of crafts that you are trying your hands at and would love to see more of this…
Your new BPC class sounds awesome and I am NOT surprised that you are choosing this subject, as I know your LOAD project in May had such an impact on you and finding your style!
    Long live your blog…

I say all of them – combine them all – love the daily life, the to-die-for photos and scrapping that inspires me. Love to see crafts and love the book reviews. Always feel that I can accomplish more when I stop by here. Would love more photo knowledge or maybe how in the world you get that lighting just so and just perfect. I’m a fan, and I love to read long posts!! Please let us know more about the BPS class, I think I always tell you how motivated I am by your style, would love a class that changes mine up a bit, solidifies mine and just gets me moving.
