Daily Diary – December 8 2010

Nathaniel’s really into these big legos lately. Plays with them for a long time. He’s also into zippers and opening them on his pajamas.

After dropping off David, we went to my parents’ hotel this morning to sit with them before they left. Nathaniel found the TV remote and demanded that we turn it on immediately. I tried to take the opportunity to snap a photo of him with my mom. But I wasn’t so successful.

I did a little better with my dad.

Lest you think I forgot about David. Here’s one while he’s eating. It’s been hard taking photos of him because he comes from school when it’s almost dark. He’s going on vacation in one week so things will get much easier then.

My parents left this morning. I came back home put Nathaniel down, exercised and worked. I’m sad to see them go. It’s been really wonderful having them around and the kids were so happy too. We will all miss them dearly.

We attempted to go to Vasona Park tonight but it’s been pouring and traffic is horrible so we turned around and decided to do it another night. Tomorrow we plan to go to the Polar Express train. It means 4+ hours of driving but I am hoping the kids will like it. I am also working hard to go through my todo list so I can relax and enjoy my daytime with the kids and Jake. I love the holiday season so much and even the rain can’t put a damper on my mood.

Here’s to hoping you’re doing great too!! 🙂

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I took two days off work so I have a 4-day weekend.
2. I am grateful that we got to spend so many wonderful moments with my parents. I hope we see them soon again.
3. I am grateful that I get to spend the whole day with my family on a wonderful adventure tomorrow. I hope I can document it and be in the moment as well.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. (almost) going out tonight {* his pick for the journal}
2. getting a new sticker book
3. singing in music class

Daily Diary – December 7 2010

Even though I had a very productive day (or maybe because of that) I didn’t do a very good job of taking photos today. I got this one of Nathaniel eating his toys.

Since we had shots of David with his grandparents, I wanted some of Nathaniel, too but he would not cooperate. This was the very best I could do.

He would not stop playing with my dad’s phone. He thought it was the greatest thing ever. And David was playing with the ipad so they were both happy.

My parents are leaving tomorrow. I am really sad. I know that I will now get more stuff done but I’ve really enjoyed having them here and will be sorry to see them go, especially since I don’t know when I will be seeing them again.

I am a little behind on the December Daily. More coming tomorrow.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we all went out to dinner tonight and both the kids were very well behaved and it was really lovely.
2. I am grateful that I finished a surprise present I have scheduled for a friend, I’m about to order it in a few moments.
3. I am grateful that we’re done with Christmas shopping. Except for the kids, who are easy, we are done done done.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. playing with amore’s ipad {* his pick for the journal}
2. learning math at school today
3. going out to dinner

Daily Diary – December 6 2010

Another week. Another Monday. Even though some days are harder than others I really really wish December crawled. I don’t want it to pass quickly as I cherish the season so much and I have so many more things to do before I am ready for 2011. So let’s all slow down this month. I wish that could be so!

Nathaniel and I went to David’s class today to help with Monday journaling. It was so much fun to be there and to see all other kids. David was so nice and when he was done with his journaling, he sat with Nathaniel and read him stories and hugged him and kissed him. It was wonderful.

He is still writing his book daily so today’s entry was about how we went to his class.

My angel.

Then he got to play with my mom’s ipad. He was in heaven.

The little one ran around and laughed and laughed.

I snapped another photo but the color was really off since we had no light and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t correct it so I converted to black and white.

And that’s it from here. Tonight is our last date night before my parents leave. I will miss them but I am also tired and have a really long todo list so it will be nice to stay home and get some of those done the rest of the week. I hope your monday was great!

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I signed up for Misty’s class. I really want to learn to draw/paint in 2011 so I am looking forward to kicking it off with this class.
2. I am grateful that I took care of something annoying but important at the bank today.
3. I am grateful that I get to have a little more together time with my hubby. I cherish this time so much.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. playing with opapa {* his pick for the journal}
2. watching amore play cards on her ipad
3. watching a movie with ece

Daily Diary – December 5 2010

Maybe because I took so many yesterday, I took very few photos today. I snapped this one of Nathaniel early this morning. He’s still sucking away. But also still cute as a pie.

Then we put him down for a nap, I exercised, read a bunch and he still didn’t nap so we took him back out. Our neighbor’s daughter came to hang out with David and they all watched Toy Story 2. I tried to put Nathaniel down again and finally he fell asleep so while Jake worked, the rest of us went out to lunch. When we came back Jake was working on the couch and the baby was playing.

I gave him some snacks while Dad and David played some cards and dominoes.

And now we’re all lounging around. Rainy Sundays are exactly for that, aren’t they?

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful for a quiet day and a lot of family time.
2. I am grateful that I am slowly but surely going through my todo list.
3. I am grateful that I have such a wonderful family. Sweet kids, wonderful husband, and generous, kind, loving parents.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. playing with opapa {* his pick for the journal}
2. watching amore play cards on her ipad
3. watching a movie with ece

Daily Diary – December 4 2010

David made this ornament this morning. He loves making these.

Nathaniel decided 4am was a perfectly good time to wake up. He wept and wept so we all finally gave up and Jake woke up with him and I slept a bit more. Then we all went to see Santa. David loved it right away. But Nathaniel…..not so much.

Then we had some pancakes and oranges and juice. David was a happy camper.

And then we went off to the crafts room to make some ornaments.

Nathaniel colored.

And David made some snowflakes.

We then went out to see the ducks which Nathaniel loved (so did David.)

I tried to snap some photos with my parents but the little boy was no in an accommodating mood.

So I gave up and just took them with only David.

Who was, of course, very well behaved and kind.

Then we all went out to lunch and did some shopping and came back home so I could work on my december daily and rest a bit. The plan was to go to the Google Holiday party tonight but we are both completely pooped so I don’t think we’re going to make it. Here’s to hoping Nathaniel decides to actually sleep in tomorrow.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that we went to see Santa. It’s a tradition now and I love little traditions like these. My little family and me.
2. I am grateful that I get to spend time crafting and exercising daily. Two things I want to prioritize. I’m also thankful because my dad just gifted me Misty Mawn’s new class and I cannot wait to register when it opens on Monday.
3. I am grateful that I will rest tonight. I feel a little sad for not going but I am so so exhausted that I am thankful to get to curl up with a book and my husband instead.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. getting to see santa {* his pick for the journal}
2. playing with opapa
3. going out to lunch.

Daily Diary – December 3 2010

I thought it might be a fun day for posting imperfect photos that show a lot of what life’s like here:

Nathaniel holds his hands together in the front or the back when he looks at things. Especially if it’s something he’s not supposed to touch.

David came home with a Chinese yoyo today (he gets rewards for being good in class at school) and he has been playing with it nonstop.

And this is what Nathaniel does while David plays.

He also loves David’s water thermos and plays with it at every opportunity. He can’t press the button on his own and asks me to do it but then closes it back and i have to do it again and again.

My smiley boy. I love him so.

And the one who wouldn’t let me take a photo today.

And here he is trying to wear his pants on his head. All my shots of him today are blurry. He was constantly on the move and the light’s not been all that great.

Wonderful day all around today. I got to spend some of my early morning with Caroline Lau of Maya Road and it was so wonderful. I did my work, december daily, and exercise. And I will now go out with my family and see the lights so I cannot ask for anything more. And tonight we get to cuddle up and rest and relax. I might even glance at my todo list which I’ve been gladly neglecting.

So glad it’s the weekend!!

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I spent some time with Caroline. It’s rare to have good company in my house and it was such a joy.
2. I am grateful that my husband got some potentially great news today. I will cross my fingers for him. And he also got cleared medically so grateful for that, too.
3. I am grateful that it’s the weekend and that I can rest and craft and be with my family. So grateful for weekends.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. learning a new math game at school (addition) {* his pick for the journal}
2. getting a Chinese yoyo at school
3. that we’re going out to see the lights and snow (fake) tonight.

Daily Diary – December 2 2010

Days kinda start quietly here but then get really hectic and I tend to leave the photo-taking towards the latter part of the day so I don’t do well on the photos.

Nathaniel’s gotten a bit smitten with TV and asks to have it on first thing. Not good, I know. But he looks cute watching it.

I am not worried yet since he wasn’t interested at all two months ago so I will see if it passes.

Dad came over today while Nathaniel napped and mom and I ran out for a super-quick errand. More on that later.

Then they left and I worked and went to pickup david and then had to rush to work so they came back to be with the kids. I snapped this before I left.

And now I am rushing out to be with Jake. It’s our anniversary. I love him. so. much. I ordered these rings a few months ago and they finally arrived and I adore them.

Off to get ready. A lot more tomorrow, I promise. December daily page two is half done so that’s coming tomorrow, too.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that my rings came. I love love love them.
2. I am grateful that I got to go to work and change my machines. It was a task I’d been putting off for two years. Feels great to have it be done.
3. I am grateful for my husband today and everyday. Happy 16 years, my love. To many many many more.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. getting a silly band at school {* his pick for the journal}
2. eating a gingerbread man at school
3. spending time with opapa and amore and daddy.

Daily Diary – December 1 2010

Happy December!!

We started the day all tired. Even David’s been sleeping later in the mornings. Maybe it’s the winter sluggishness. I spent most of the day lying and trying to get stuff done. I did manage to do my December Daily and work out. Other than that, there wasn’t much personal stuff accomplished. Just a bunch of work.

As I took shots of my first December Daily page, Nathaniel crouched and kept touching my page.

He is the king of facial expressions. Well he and his brother both are.

After I picked David up, we rushed to the doctor for his flu shot and by the time we came home, Jake was already here so as it’s my new goal, I asked him to take some photos of us. Most of them didn’t come out but we got one.

And I loved Nathaniel’s smile in this one.

David kept making super weird faces in most of them. So I asked him to give me a smile, too.

And there we are. Tonight’s book club night so I am trying to rush through my list before I have to leave. Off to light candles now. As I start my december daily posts, I’m thinking I won’t email those if you’re subscribed to me by email. They are often photo heavy and I don’t want to clutter your mailbox more. So come on over to visit the site and see them.

Love December!

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that December is here. This is a very special time of the year for me and I am trying to enjoy each moment.
2. I am grateful that I have book club tonight.
3. I am grateful that my parents are here to enjoy a little bit of the season with us.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. having a piece of chocolate {* his pick for the journal}
2. getting a new book
3. singing in music class at school

Daily Diary – November 30 2010

The little boy is still not sleeping well. Now he’s got a cold again, likely from my parents I imagine. He was up all night and then I had to go to a school open house for David and he didn’t take his nap so my parents just played with him while I was gone. Then they left, I put him down and worked and exercised.

Day 60 baby!

And then he woke up and played while I worked more. He loves TV and asks me to put Sprout on pretty much all the time. He doesn’t sit and watch but likes it on.

And he likes to chew on his lips. Been doing this a lot lately. He’s so so cute.

Then we went to get David who is also so so cute.

And sweet and kind and generous. A little more work, some food and my parents came over to spend some more time with the kids. Then the kids went to bed, I hung out with my parents and now they’re off and I am trying to finish this post before I watch some GLEE!! Then I will write up all of David’s advent tags and try to do a few more of my list items. December starts tomorrow and I am not ready. But I am also super excited. Bring it on! I will do just fine.

I haven’t crafted in almost a week. Can’t wait to get my hands on my December Daily album.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I exercised 2.5 miles today: my longest in a while. I was getting worried that it might not happen again.
2. I am grateful that December starts tomorrow. Let the holidays and joy begin. My mom bought me a wonderful duvet cover today for the holidays. I will wash and put it on in the morning first thing.
3. I am grateful for every moment I get to spend with my family while they are here.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. being the star of the day {* his pick for the journal}
2. opapa coming to play with me
3. reading my gingerbread man book again at school

Daily Diary – November 29 2010

After two weeks of semi-holidays, half-days, weird schedules it was odd to have a normal schedule of David going to school and me working all day. But it was also wonderful. I remembered how much I’ve come to cherish the quiet time and the ability to think and organize my day. I worked while Nathaniel played quietly.

And a little “not quietly” too.

While he napped, I worked out and worked some more. And relaxed a tiny bit. I am still organizing my days and my 2011 plans. Especially since December is coming in one more day.

We then went to get David and I snapped one photo of him, too.

I also spent a bit of time redoing some of the blog. There will be some more changes but I wanted to mention two things. One is that you can now subscribe to a specific RSS feed if you like. So if you only want to get my scrapbooking posts, you can subscribe just to that. Look left for the links and leave a comment if you can’t find them. Two, I did the same thing for my email subscriptions so if you’re subbed to my posts by email, you can choose the categories you want. It’s a tiny bit more complicated there but you can. Just click on the link that comes in the email and it will take you to a screen where you can adjust them.

Let me know if this makes no sense 🙂

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I got more art for my scrappy space. I love happy art, especially by artists i love and admire. today’s art was by Donna Downey.
2. I am grateful that I have a guest post at shutter sisters today. I love guesting there and reading all the comments.
3. I am grateful that the cleaning lady came and that we got the gutters cleaned. I hate arranging all that but I love having it done.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. having my teacher read the gingerbread man book to us {* his pick for the journal}
2. checking out a book from the library (berenstain bears)
3. being selected as star of the day for school tomorrow

Daily Diary – November 28 2010

This morning was extra-nice because Jake let me sleep in and when I came downstairs, he was snuggled up on the couch with Nathaniel. I should have snapped a photo right there. But I didn’t. Bad me. David slept until past 7am. I’ve never seen that before. So it was an oddly quiet morning.

I spent the morning reading and hanging out with the boys and snapped a few photos.

Even though the little one gave me attitude.

And looks. Enough-already looks.

But I am glad I snapped them cause it’s all I got to take. I then left with my parents for some shopping for my dad and then we all met to have lunch and Jake went to work and the rest of us walked around the mall to help my parents with a few more items. I also came home with some goodies that I am very thankful for. Now I get to relax, make a plan for the week, read my book and go to sleep. Not super productive but quite wonderful nonetheless.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that my dad bought me a wonderful new machine and it will help a lot with exercising and I also got a new pair of sneakers too which I am very thankful for.
2. I am grateful that I broke down all the boxes sitting in my garage. It’s one of my least favorite things to do but I am always happy when it’s done.
3. I am grateful that I am finally enjoying my book. Almost halfway through as well. It’s been a long time since I finished a book and I get depressed when this happens so I am hoping it will move faster now that I am enjoying it so much more.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. playing at the apple store {* his pick for the journal}
2. going to a restaurant with amore and opapa
3. having opapa tell me a story

Daily Diary – November 27 2010

Most of today was spent whining and pouting and being sleepy. Here’s to doing better tomorrow. I even did a lousy job of taking photos. As in not taking them all day and remembering once the light was pretty much gone. The big boy tried to be great about it anyway.

And the little one was already eating dinner.

Oh well, some days are just like that. I hope your Saturday was better than mine.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I cleaned up my scrap table all over. It feels so inviting now.
2. I am grateful that I got the angel painting I ordered. I absolutely love it.
3. I am grateful that I exercised today. I’ve been feeling really unmotivated lately but I am still trying to do it despite the lack of desire.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. playing wii {* his pick for the journal}
2. playing didj
3. coloring
