Us Right Now – April 30

jake
Jake had a great week this week. Got several accounts open and started his new company. He worked a lot and I think things are going well for him. I am really proud of him. He’s also helped me a lot with my work and taking care of things this week. I’ve had a long week so his support and kindness was felt extra-strong this week. I am so thankful he’s around so much more now.

karen
A very long week for me. I expected it to be stressful but nowhere near what it turned out to be. Several last minute fires, late nights, sleepless nights from stress and worry. Overwhelming exhaustion. That was my week mostly. A quick trip to David’s new school. A two-year appointment for Nathaniel. Lots of exercise. And an overwhelming sense of tired. That was pretty much my week here.

david
David went back to school this week and he’s getting back into his routine again. Nothing bad this week from him. He came home happy every day and we’ve done a lot of reading and a lot of workbooks. We’re also starting to plan the summer for David since it’s coming soon. We’re hoping to sign him up for soccer, swimming, and gymnastics classes. And then a weeklong Lego camp, too. I’m excited for the summer. I always like having David around more and always miss him when school starts back up again.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is now officially two. He had the quiet celebration last Sunday with just the four of us and some cupcakes. Then he had his two-year well-child checkup and all was great. And then, today, we had a little party for him at our community area where we live. Many of the neighbors showed up and it was super-sweet to see all the little boys and girls running around together. Nathaniel had a lot of fun, too. He got some wonderful toys and has been playing with them all day. Happy Birthday, my sweet sweet boy.

jake
Good week for Jake! He made a lot of progress in his business. Several clients came on at once and things are rolling now. Thankfully. He’s been getting up early every day this week since he doesn’t have to be around to take David to the bus. He goes to work super-early and comes home to give kids dinner. He’s been so awesome. He also drove us all the way to Santa Cruz and back and played with the kids for hours. It’s so much fun for me to watch the way the kids hug him each time he’s around.

karen
Good week for me. I pushed the Beta out the door, coordinated everything I have to do for work and then we left for our vacation. I am still sketching every day and working hard at it. Same with the exercise and leg lifts and I feel tired but peaceful. I feel like I am relaxed and making progress. Slowly, but I feel no sense of rush. I am glad we went on vacation, it really relaxed me.

david
David was off school all week. Spring break. He played, read, colored, played some more, and was all-around happy. During vacation, he was grouchy at times but I think he’s overall happy. More like a typical six-year-old, he’s happy when he gets exactly his way and whiny and pouty when he doesn’t. He does do everything I ask, though and he writes and reads every day and we’re working on our book together, too. So I feel like on average, he’s such a good boy and I am so very grateful.

nathaniel
This is Nathaniel’s last week as a one-year-old. Tomorrow he turns two. He’s such a cutie patootie. Though he’s been a lot more work lately, as well. He whines and complains when he doesn’t get his way. He’s gotten really good at expressing his opinion and if he doesn’t like what you offer, he’s very good about letting you know what he thinks about that, too. I love my little, little boy so much!!

jake
This was another productive week for Jake. He spent most of the week at the office getting clients and setting up paperwork for corporations. He’s made so much progress in the last two weeks that it’s exciting and rejuvenating to watch. He’s also been really a huge help to me this week. He went to volunteer at David’s school and stayed with the kids so I could go to both my doctor’s appointments alone. It was so nice to be able to have that freedom and calm.

karen
This week was productive and stressful. I’ve been having more jaw pain than I’d like but I am trying to keep it in perspective. I’ve been specifically working on having more perspective and a more positive attitude. I am quite proud of myself for not completely freaking out with what happened to David and just doing the right thing and trying to stay calm so that he wouldn’t be scared. Now that the weekend is here all I want to do is rest and recover and do nothing productive. I guess that’s what weekends are for, right?

david
David went back to school after a week of being sick and then on Wednesday he was spinning around and hit his head on the lunch bench when he got dizzy. He made a pretty deep gash but thankfully he’s ok. They closed it up with bandaids and he’s been home the rest of the week. He’s been in good spirits but I am worried cause he doesn’t really understand the gravity of what happened and still jumps and bounces around unless I remind him to stay calm and let his wound heal. My sweet boy whose spirit is unbreakable. I love him.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is doing well, too. He’s thrilled to have David around and he’s been getting into every single thing. He opens drawers, burrows through things, has strong opinions and makes sure you know them. It’s lucky for him that he’s super-cute or I am not sure how we’d be putting up with all his antics.

jake
Jake had a great week. He went to his new office every day and since David was home sick all week, he got to spend full days at work and they were super-productive. He’s been so helpful to me, too and so much fun to have around. I am loving this new life and really really praying and hoping and wishing for only good things to come his way. My husband is an amazing man and he deserves so much in life. I love him so.

karen
This week was rough for me. I’d blame David and that he was around all week but to be honest, he’s as nice as can be and he gave me a lot of space. I just didn’t feel up for doing anything all week. I did all my work and even my regular daily tasks but I was grouchy and tired and uninspired all week. Which is one reason I took yesterday off so I could have a full three-day weekend and relax and see if I can get my passion, purpose, energy, or at least, will, back.

david
David was home all week. He had a fever on and off the entire time. I took him to the doctor on Thursday and thankfully there was nothing wrong but it still was terrible to see him sick and coughing and his nose dripping all week. He was a good boy and stayed quiet and read books and did his workbooks and quietly played with legos all week long. He even lost his wii day but he was gracious about it. I hope my boy is well again soon.

nathaniel
Nathaniel was thrilled to have his brother home all week. He read books alongside his brother. He sat with him while David played on the computer and they played with the flower toy together. Nathaniel was just a happy camper. He also decided vegetables were overrated and will not eat them unless I put them on his plate without alternatives and will not give anything else until he’s done. Some days that doesn’t work either. But we keep trying because it’s good for him and because we love him so so much.

jake
This was Jake’s final week at his current job. We now begin another new chapter in our lives as he starts his new company. I am hoping that along with some wonderful work, this will mean more family time for all of us. Higher quality time and more rest. No more 3:30am alarms to go to work. I really adore my husband with all my heart and I have all the faith and trust in the world in him. All I want to do is cheer him on and be there every step along the way.

karen
This week was relatively quiet for me. I did push another Beta out the door. We handed over David’s school forms and I have been scared and excited simultaneously for this new step in his life. I have been exercising and trying to eat better. I have been sleeping fitfully and waking up several times a night. I have been in that place where you just finished a great book and cannot find one that’s as compelling. I have been tired. I have been inspired. It was a quiet and yet eventful week here.

david
David got into the school we were hoping for next year. I think he understands a little about what a wonderful opportunity this is for him but it’s still a little too abstract, which is okay. We’ve been doing a lot of workbooks and reading this week. The Three Investigators series has been very fun to read and we both look forward to it daily, now. I am so proud of my big boy and I hope that we’re opening the right doors for him.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is getting more communicative and opinionated. He has to get his way or he will fall on the floor dramatically and act like we just crushed his soul. But he’s so so so cute. Both Jake and I watch him and feel so lucky to have him in our lives. He’s just a little gem. I can’t believe he’s going to turn two this month. I am not ready for my little boy to not be a baby anymore.

jake
I think this was a good week for Jake. Not too stressful and somewhat productive. The best part was that he didn’t go to work early any morning this week which also meant he could take David to the bus every morning. Which made my day go so much more smoothly. I am excited to have Jake’s new schedule and life. He’s so much more relaxed and happy and around which is making all of us so happy.

karen
I can’t really say this was a great week, but mostly due to a lot of pain in my back. I’ve somehow managed to injure it again and I can’t get the pain to go away. Despite the frustration and the low mood, it was a productive week at work. I did two dev channel pushes and I think we’re almost ready for next week. I just need to sit down and figure out what’s bugging me so I can make sure things are more positive for next week.

david
David is doing well. He seems to have made good friends with Julian and plays different games with him each day at school. He comes home happy and then reads his book with me and writes in his journal and does his workbooks. He eats his veggies and does most of this without too much complaining. He then spends a bunch of time on the iPhone playing different games. He’s such a sweet, good kid and I feel so lucky.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is learning more and more each week and this one was no exception. He now says done and me almost all the time. He watches all of us very closely and can understand pretty much anything. He also gets super excited when Daddy comes home and screams “daddy daddy daddy” in rapid fire and runs to give him a hug. It brings tears to my eyes each time. I really really love watching him play, laugh, eat, and live his life. He’s also learned to make kissing noises and makes them to me and to his stuffed animals occasionally. My little boy is soon going to grow up and I am trying hard to enjoy every single moment with him.

jake
Jake was the reason I was able to function this week. Not only did he take care of this children for three consecutive days but both Tuesday and Thursday, he woke up at 3am, went to work and then came back home at 10am so that I could then go to work. I didn’t even make it back home until around 6pm on each of the days. And as opposed to my daily crazy, he was calm and happy when I got home. He’s my hero.

karen
I had a long long long week but it was also super productive. I worked really hard all week but especially on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I woke up did my work at home and then went to work for the whole day. I worked, worked, worked. On Wednesday, I had the privilege of meeting and escorting Brene Brown which was incredible and I am so thankful. On Thursday night, I had a BPC chat and on Friday we had one hour when Nathaniel had a friend over. Other than those, I pretty much worked the entire week.

david
David had a good week at school. He’s been playing with his friend Julian most days now and comes home happy from school. He loves music and p.e. and I think he’s gotten more and more used to being there. He still claims not to like it when he hears that he has to go to bed because it’s a school day but I do think he is really enjoying himself. And I am very grateful for that.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is learning more words and now he says “done” and he is paying more attention to every single thing. He’s so happy lately. When I go to get him from his nap, he’s smiling a big, wide smile. When he picks up his plastic phone, he makes the song play so he can dance in circles. He’s also been watching the iPod and eating green beans and graham crackers with cream cheese. Anything with cream cheese to be honest. And he’s also learning to share since we now have weekly playdates over here on Fridays. My big boy.

jake
Even though we both feel really tired at the end of the week, I think this was a good week for Jake. He had a few great meetings and forward motion in several of his projects. I know that he’s trying to juggle a lot more than usual for the next few weeks and it’s hard but he’s dealing with it all like a champ. He’s positive, optimistic and still so much the guy I fell in love with. Jake’s childlike enthusiasm for so many things is intoxicating and makes you so happy to have him in your life. I am so grateful.

karen
Good week for me, too. Three dev releases in one week. A first for me. But I do it all with so much more ease and confidence now. I understand the things under the hood and that’s all I needed to feel 100% better. I am hoping next week’s branching will go well too and then I can rest easy for a bit. I also had a great week teaching my class and making some art. And even sketching. I am looking forward to so much next week.

david
David had a good week as well. He’s fully back to school and handled the transition like a champ. He didn’t melt down and has come home happy each day this week. He does all of his chores without complaint (at least not too much.) He eats his veggies, reads his book, does his workbook exercises and then he gets to play. He even plays with his little brother and they really like laughing together. I love watching them so much.

nathaniel
Nathaniel has been having a rougher-than-usual week. He fell down and busted his lip earlier this week and then had a lot of trouble falling asleep (I am guessing it hurt to suck his thumb.) Then Jake taught him a game with the stuffed animals in bed and he kept wanting to play that and refused to sleep. But, of course, he always falls asleep in the end and he’s so cute, so sweet that we just try to be patient with him. I am guessing his schedule is changing a bit too since he’s getting older but we’ll deal with that as is comes.

jake
A rough week for Jake this week. Just a lot of work and trying to get everything organized and all the loose ends coordinated. Things are going to get easier. We just need to be patient and try to do one thing at a time. Which is always hard. He helped me so much on Thursday by sitting at home with the kids so I could go to the office and get a ton of work done. I look forward to more of that.

karen
This was awesome! I decided on Monday night while I was journaling that things would only start getting better at work if I decided to show up and do it. I shouldn’t wait until I feel more in sync. I do it and then things work out. And that’s exactly what happened. I showed up. I did the work. It got better. I was inspired. I did more work. Magic! My BPC class started this week, too. Finding Your Way. I am super-excited about it. Feeling positively great this week.

david
David was off school all week. Winter Break. He spent his days playing with his legos, reading books with me, doing workbooks, writing his gratitudes, reading to me, and playing with Nathaniel. He’s been really happy. As much as I love school, I really really love having him around. I get to sleep a bit more, he helps with Nathaniel so much and he’s such a joy to have around. I will be sad when he goes back to school next week.

nathaniel
Nathaniel has also been really happy to have David around. He’s been playing with his brother and watching him all week long. They laugh and shriek together. He loves to look through David’s books. He’s also been more vocal. He says “me” now when he wants something. He also started screaming much to my dismay. I am hoping it’s a short phase and he will abandon it soon because I don’t think I can stand it.

jake
Long week for Jake, lots of interviewing candidates and working long hours. He’s been working from early morning to late afternoon. And then he comes home and spends time with both kids. He and David have been watching lots of Star Wars lately and it’s one of David’s favorite things. He looks forward to his time with Daddy all day long. Nathaniel, too, has been a big fan, he keeps coming to the computer and saying “daddy” until I show him photos of all four of us so he can see his dad.

karen
This week was a long week for me both at work and personally. But I’ve accomplished much and now I have a three day weekend to rest. My jaw’s been hurting and I’ve had several eye migraines this week. But I still kept exercising and I’ve spent lots of time with the kids. I went to David’s school to volunteer and now he’s got no school for a week. I very much look forward to some more time with him. He’s such a joy to have around.

david
David had a good week at school. It started with Valentine’s Day and a big party, then he went to the other school for a shadow day and then ended his week with a playdate. He’s now on vacation for a week and playing with his legos, on the computer, and Wii of course. We’re also planning to get back on schedule with our workbooks this week. We’ve been slacking a bit there and this is a good time to get reorganized.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is enjoying the little iPod I gave him. I love it even more because it means I don’t have to have the TV on all day long. The Thomas obsession was getting annoying on the TV whereas I don’t mind it at all when it’s on the small ipod with no sound. And he forgets about it for hours when he’s just looking at books of Thomas. He flips page after page and points out all the trains, cars, and balls. He’s also getting even more vocal and specific in his needs. My little boy is growing up so much and so quickly.

Jake had a long week this week. A lot of early mornings coupled with afternoon meetings. But the week is over and next week promises to be quieter for him. He’s been happy and excited and optimistic for most of the week and it always makes me happy to see him so happy. His positive attitude is always contagious.

karen
I feel like I’ve had a relatively long and unproductive week. This week went faster than I would have wished and there wasn’t enough downtime during the weekend to catch up on the balls I dropped during the week. And next week looks even more stressful with two trips to David’s school, a playdate, a visit to another school, and a day with no school. And then there’s class chat, etc. Not to mention work which promises to be hectic and stressful. But, of course, it will all turn out ok and I have lots of faith. I am always grateful.

david
David turned six this week. Six years old. I cannot believe it. He’s been so wonderful, too. He was excited to be center of attention at school and have us come and read. He was excited to get a lego set he loves and he’s really excited about his party tomorrow. He’s been happy and thankful and appreciative and not one bit spoiled about anything. I am so thankful for his kind heart and thankful attitude. I hope it continues through the years. I also hope his party goes well and he has a really good time.

nathaniel
I introduced Nathaniel to David’s ipod this week so he could watch Thomas while I watched my own TV or turned off the big TV altogether. He’s quickly learned where the lock button is and can turn it off just fine. He has yet to master anything else though so he always takes it off Thomas and then cries to get it back. He does love having it with him though and I love not having to deal with the choices the Google TV version gave him and all the frustrations that came with him changing his mind every five seconds.

jake
Jake had a big week at work this week. Many big and small changes coming our way. I must admit that I am quite scared but also very excited and happy for him. He’s been happy and relaxed all week, despite having to go to bed quite late and wake up at 3:30am every single day. He’s so amazing. I can never understand how he does it. We’ve been getting quite a lot of us-time this week, too, which I love.

karen
I’m tired. That’s the most appropriate sentence this week I think. CHA was wonderful but emotionally and physically tiring. So I need to rest. But work’s been hectic and Jake’s parent are visiting and so I just continue to feel behind and tired and worn out. Things will improve, I am sure. In the meantime I am proud that I continue to chug through and do my art, exercise and read to my kid. I just try to take it one day at a time.

david
David had a pretty good week at school this week. He came home happy every day and got a lot of “I like you” instagrams from his classmates. He is going to be six next week. I cannot believe how quickly time is passing. He is a champion reader now and spells amazingly well as well. At least when he’s with me. I think we need to focus on math for a while so he can be completely comfortable with that as well. I am just thankful that he’s doing well, being good and kind to others, and in general trying his best. I am so proud of him.

nathaniel
Nathaniel is still all about the choo-choo but now he’s more demanding and wants a specific one. He’s speaking like a champ. Repeats so many words. I am not sure how great the concept comprehension is but his vocabulary and ability to speak is already way above and beyond anything David did at his age. Which hopefully means he will not have the same speech issues David did. He still continues to be super-cute and giggles and smiles all the time. And his voice is like an angel. Makes you want to hug him pretty much all day long.
