Looks Can Be Deceiving

This layout is made with the December A Million Memories kit.

Journaling reads:
If you were just to look at the first picture you’d think Nathaniel is hugging and kissing David (which, to be fair, he does often) but then you see the second photo and you realize how you are so wrong. That’s how it is with out little boys. They can be sneaky. But I love my boys and I love capturing these moments even though they expose the bad boy moments. I love them and all but it’s good to remember looks can deceive.

Our Rare Moment Captured Forever

A new month means a new write.click.scrapbook gallery. This month’s challenge is to scrap a black and white photo. You can see the full gallery here!

Journaling Reads:
It’s rare for us to get to go out together all dressed up and I wanted to capture it forever. Thankfully, your dad was around to take this photo. 9.5.2010

Catalyst 126 – No One Can Hurt You Without Your Permission

Catalyst One Hundred and Twenty-Six is: Tell us about a time someone hurt your feelings.

Thoughts:
There are many moments from my past that I can dredge up with sadness or hurt but I decided from now on the path is about looking forward and freeing myself of the idea that things can happen to me. I control my emotions and my life. People cannot hurt me if I don’t let them and I choose joy and not hurt. So here’s to being free and letting go of the past and embracing joy.

This was made with the December A Million Memories Kit.

Note to Self: Slow Down and Enjoy These Precious Moments

This was done as a guest design spot for Mission to Create, please make sure to visit the blog so you can see all the amazing creations.

Journaling Reads:
I often find myself wishing for the next steps in life. For you to walk and then talk and then be potty trained and on and on. But then I look at David and remember when he was little like you. Time passes too quickly. I need to slow down and enjoy you right now.

I hope You always Have Great Teachers Like Joel

I made this layout a long while ago but it looks like I never posted it.

Journaling Reads:
Dead David, you don’t know now but you’ve been so very lucky for the last three years. You’ve had the very best teachers. You started with teacher Lana and Mary (whom you loved so very much) and then the next year you had even more luck with teachers Melissa, Cody, and Kathleen. They cared for you so very much. And this year you finished your preschool with teacher Joel who’s known you for so long and loved you so much. As you start kindergarten this year, my biggest wish for you is that you get another amazing teacher. It makes all the difference. June 2010.

The Chicken and the Hulk

I know we’re smack in the middle of Christmastime but I have this Halloween layout I made because I knew that if I didn’t make it, I would never make it since I am not a fan of Halloween at ALL.

Journaling Reads:
Despite the fact that I am not a fan of Halloween I do like seeing you guys dressed up and specifically seeing Nathaniel wear David’s old costumes. Seeing two different chickens makes me so happy and it makes the rest of this holiday worthwhile for me.

The Joy of Family Time

Journaling Reads:
Unfortunately most of our family lives far away so we don’t get to see them as frequently as we’d like but when they come it’s like Christmas and birthdays rolled into one. We get to play together, laugh together, and you really enjoy having them around so much. We’re very lucky that even though they are far, our families are amazing and we adore every moment we get to spend together.

Again and Again you Teach me Love is All That Matters

This was for an old Crate Paper sketch. Something a bit funky for me.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet boy, there are days where you try my patience in all possible ways but then I look at that amazing smile, those shining eyes and I realize that what you give me is so much more than any frustration. You always teach me that love is above all. I love you so much and thank you.

Our First Batch of Cookies with Icing

A new month means a new write.click.scrapbook gallery. This month’s challenge is Holiday Food & Drink . You can see the full gallery here!

Journaling Reads:
I generally have a long list of things to try each December. Since you enjoyed the baking so much in 2008, I thought it would be fun for us to create our own cookies and decorate them with all sorts of fun icing. We brought some cutters from Target and made the cookie dough and waited overnight. As I had predicted, you loved every step of the way and spent hours decorating every cookie differently. Look at how pretty they look! And they tasted absolutely delicious, too. I predict more cooking in our future. December 2009.

Your Smile

This is with A Million Memories February Kit.

Many people ask me how I can work from home.
There are a lot of stressful moments and sometimes
I get worn out, but then you come over and give me
one of those magical smiles and I am filled with joy
and gratitude to get to see those smiles all day long.

A Growing Shoe Obsession in Progress

Journaling Reads:
Even though you haven’t owned any pairs so far (or maybe that’s why) you are obsessed with putting on shoes. You will put on any that you see and try to walk around. Your favorites are of course David’s shoes cause they can be put on easily and do not weigh so much so you can walk around. I just wish you didn’t want to wear them inside the house so much. Though you do look so cute. I love you.

It Gives you Endless Joy and Comfort

This was made for a Crate Paper sketch contest two months or so ago.

Journaling Reads:
I’ve never had a boy who likes to suck his thumb before and even though everyone likes to warn me about future orthodontist and how I should start looking for cures. Cover it with something spicy but not harmful someone said. And you have managed to infect your thumb twice already which means medicine and gauze and lots convincing you to keep them on, it’s all a lot of a pain but when I watch you, I can see how it calms you down and makes you happy. So go ahead my boy, enjoy every moment of it. I love you.
