A Book a Week – Haven and Mirage

I read Haven and Mirage when I was looking for something fun to read. I had no idea what the topic was. And I don’t want to ruin it just in case you want to read.

But I will say I wouldn’t have read it if I knew. In the end it was a fun read and I don’t regret it. (Clearly since I read the second book, too.) but I can’t say it’s an excellent book. If you’re looking for a fun, easy read, go for it.

If not, there are many other better books.

But when the third comes out, I will likely read that, too.

Says a lot about me, I guess 🙂

I have placed Haven on hold at my local library. Thanks for the suggestion.

Lois Lowry has the fourth book (The Son) out in The Giver trilogy, or what was for a long time a trilogy, now there are 4. If you have not read these, they are really good (short) reads.

Another series of book you might like: Inkheart. This is a book about people who love books! What could be better than that.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.

This weekend I read Haven. I am like you, had I known the topic, I would not have read it. I will probably not read the others.

Last week I picked up this book at the library.
Gone fishing : a novel in verse / Wissinger, Tamera Will
It is kind of cute. The interesting part is that the story unfolds via a series of poems written in a variety of styles. Each style is identified at the top and at the end of the book the styles are explained in more detail, an added bonus. A quick 30 minute read and a fun story about family relationships.

Above World / Reese, Jenn. is what I am currently reading. I don’t think this would make my recommended list, but an interesting concept. Will know more when I finish it.

Thanks for book reports, I always enjoy them.
    Susan
