You Can’t Talk but You can Sign Thank You

This is my first official design team layout for Pink Paislee.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet little boy, you are sixteen months old and cannot yet talk but you do know several signs and one of them is the sign for thank you. Not only do you know the sign but you also know when to use it. When David does something nice for you or gives you a toy, you make sure to sign it so that he knows you’re thankful. EAch time you do it, it reminds me that though you can’t talk, you understand so very much.

All products are from Pink Paislee Sweetness line.

You can see more details and a few technique highlights on my blog post.

I like this layout you create because I have disabilities so I know sign. I will try to email you because I like your blog. I found it a couple days ago.

thank you!! I learned sign language many years ago and love using it! I taught it to both my kids and wish they still used it. I have forgotten much of mine and wish I could be completely fluent in it, too. Maybe one day πŸ™‚

Love this story. We used the book “Baby Signs” as a starting point with our son. I really think that his ability to communicate through these signs cut down on his frustration a lot. I recorded in his baby book some of the baby signs he used most, because it was so amazing and sweet. I also think he began talking sooner and better because of it. He has an amazing vocabulary an enunciates so clearly. No scientific evidence. Just mom-sense.

Would love to see some of the projects you used for weekly art time with David.

Jana, i don’t know the details of your situation of course but my older son had some major delays. at 2.5 he only said “hi” and his teachers were sure there was something really wrong with him. he did six months of speech therapy and by the end of his first year in preschool he was the biggest talker in his class. even the teacher was shocked. i have come to believe that some kids just take their time. i know the therapy helped a lot but i also know that sometimes it’s just about waiting. (of course sometimes there really is something wrong too. the key imho is to give it attention early and make sure it’s monitored and you seek the help needed) i taught him to sign at a young age and it did help a bit so i wish you lots of luck!

  • Love this layout. My youngest is 15 months and I don’t teach him any signs he invents his own to tell us want he wants. I think it is so cute. And to think that at the beginning of the 20th century they thought babies couldn’t communicate, and that all they needed was to be fed and changed.

My grand-daughter who is 20 months is talking a blue streak in both English and Spanish, but there are lots of words that she can’t say, so she signs. Thank you and Please are two she does alot. Love the tiny hearts on the layout. Think I need to do one on my gd signing, so I won’t forget.

Really do enjoy your blog, thanks for sharing!

  • Loved seeing this on the PP blog. How do you store this with the embellishment hanging off the bottom, though?

i cut them πŸ™‚ or the layout just sticks up a bit on the top. since the albums are often larger, it all ends up ok in the end. thank you πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
