Daily Sketching – Week 8

Here are the sketches from this week. I am still playing around with different subject matter, mediums, etc. I can’t say I’ve found my comfort zone yet and while most of these are ok, I am still not really happy with them. But practice makes perfect, right? So I keep practicing.

On Wendesday, I started simple with this girl.

right after, I tried something different with this girl.

Thursday I did these owls.

Friday was the birds and trees in water.

on Saturday I made the girl with wings

on Sunday, I did this face:

Monday, I totally changed course and made the windmills:

and Tuesday I tried to make this amazing girl but my attempts were nothing like the striking original:

and here we are. Not the best week but also not the worst. I am still going and I love that.

They are all great. My favorites are the windmills and both bird sketches! Great job!

I’ve been meaning to ask you if you have a reason why you are sketching on graph paper. Is it helping with perspective? Kind of curious here…..

nope. it’s because this is the moleskine i use for daily use. i use it for my todo items, for journaling and for sketching. i just wanted to keep it low pressure so i didn’t create a special book for it. though the graph lines have proven to be helpful šŸ™‚

I am so in love with the first girl and the girl with the angelwings. I wish I could draw like that. Have you ever tried making a drawing out of one of your own photographs from you little boys. You would do great. I so admire your work, scrap and drawing, you inspire me really!!!!
