This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. I couldn’t get a good photo of this no matter how hard I tried. I used satin stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is eternal. I loved the woodgrain on this one.

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. I love this sketch. I used satin stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is bold. I also tried to attach this one to the back in a different way to see if I liked it better. I haven’t decided. What do you think? Do you like the little bit of gold showing or did you prefer the blanket stitch way?

Stitching Circles – Week 6

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. I decided to try one more non-white background but this one was super super painful. Halfway through, I spilled some tea which melted the dissolving water so I had to wing it for the rest of the way. By the time I was done, I was so so done with this butterfly. And I didn’t even like how it turned out. Meh. I used just back stitch on this one. The little word is fly.

Stitching Circles – Week 5

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. This week, I wanted to try not using white muslin so I picked up this brown felt and I used these printable dissolving sticky fabrics to print my image and then stuck it on the felt and started stitching:

when I was done, i cut off all the non-stitched sections.

and then put it in a bowl of water:

and here we go:

like magic. however, it wasn’t fun to stitch through it and i didn’t end up liking the darker fabric. (just like in my art journaling, apparently i like white backgrounds everywhere.)

I used satin stitch, french knots, star stitch, chain stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is hope.
