I did this layout for Pink Paislee blog for today. My focus was tools. I, of course, used punches. Edge ones, deep edge ones, and shaped ones. I also used copic markers to color both “love” and “read” in my title.

I can never scrap enough about my kids reading.
Journaling Reads:
Reading has always been my favorite thing to do. Other hobbies might come and go but I never stopped loving to read in all these years. So one of my favorite things to do is to pass this love on to the two of you. I just taught David to read this past summer and he’s already at level two. Just watching him read makes Nathaniel interested, too. And seeing your love for books makes me deeply happy. It is, by far, one of the greatest gifts I can ever give to you. So I will make every effort to support your growing interest in books. I love you.
Now that CHA is passed, I wanted to share some of my The Girls’ Paperie work I made for the show.

Journaling Reads:
As Kindergarten approached my biggest worry was teaching you to read. Everyone said that you would learn at school but I wanted to make sure it was before. I didn’t learn English as a kid so I had no idea how to teach. Thanks to my friends Deb and Caroline, we used this book and in 30 days you learned to read like magic! Seeing you sit and read your books with joy gives me the greatest pleasure I’ve ever felt as a mom. I am so incredibly proud of you my son.

I had the honor of being the December 2010 Guest designer for October Afternoon. This is one of the layouts I made for them.

Journaling Reads:
My little boy, you’re quite adventurous. You’re willing to try and explore everything. David’s toys and clothes are all exciting to you. So are new foods and places. But this openness generally only lasts for a few seconds. Sometimes so short that I can’t even captures it in film. So I was very happy to capture this brief moment of joy you had when you put on the baseball cap on. And then it was off, of course.

Journaling Reads:
Nathaniel, I got this hat for David’s first birthday and then when it was yours I tried to get you to wear it too. But you refused and kept taking it off. Now that it’s long past and it’s small on you, you want to wear it all the time. Lesson learned: don’t force, let it come naturally.

This is March’s Write.Click.Scrapbook layout. I used all The Girls’ Paperie products. I love her new lines so much. This month’s theme is to finish an incomplete project. I decided to interpret it personally and chose a project from my life. I’ve always wanted to be in good shape, exercising, and eating well. In October 2010, I finally started to tackle it and I am still facing it head on. So here’s me completing this project of getting healthy for life. (Ok maybe it will never be complete, per se, but it’s fully underway.)

The Journaling Reads:
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to lose weight. I’ve been trying and dieting and whining my whole life. And then suddenly this year I decided enough was enough. If I was going to do this now is the time. For once and all. It’s time to give it all I have and then see what happens. To try with all my being. Put in a truly honest effort in all ways. It’s been only a few months but I am already more than halfway there. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you truly set your mind to it. No more try, it’s time to do.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet boy, I know that you will eventually talk and tell us everything on your mind but for now I have to try and guess or observe you very closely so I can attempt to deduce what you’re thinking or what you want. On any day, this is hard and I can’t wait until you can articulate your own wishes. But especially hard on days when I see you sad, pensive and frowning. I want to reach into your head and read all your sad thoughts so I can make them go away. I know you will soon talk so for now I just do what I can: hold you tight and kiss you.

This layout was for the hot hues challenge on the Pink Paislee blog.

Journaling Reads:
I’ve been trying to get in the picture more so I bought this remote and each time I try to use it with you, you always want to grab it out of my hands. When I try to get it back or keep it from you, you cry. You make these dramatic faces and will not stop until I give the remote to you. I should know by now hat you won’t relent. You always get your way my boy but I still love you so much.
Almost everything is from the new Daily Junque line.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet angel. All too often I get caught up in the little things and forget that you’re growing up so so fast. I need to slow down and enjoy my minutes with you.
All products are from The Girls’ Paperie Jubilee or Mix and Match lines.

This was one of the layouts I made for Maya Road for CHA. I love that it contains no patterned paper. Nothing but Maya Road products (except the little Jenni Bowlin stickers.)

Journaling Reads:
I have been trying to act healthier and lose weight for over three months now. I work out every single day and I eat much more carefully. I went shopping for clothes last weekend and was shocked to find that I can now fit into a skirt sized four. Four! I have never been a size four in my life. It’s so nice to have proof of all the hard work I’ve been doing and the hours of sweat I put into it.

Catalyst One Hundred and Twenty-Eight is: What are you (or would you be) giving your children that you wish you’d had?
Journaling Reads:
When I was a little girl, my mom always worked. When I got home from school, she wasn’t there and it made me sad. I vowed back then that I would always be home for my kids when they came home and wanted to talk about their day. My mom was wonderful but I did wish she was around more.
And my final layout with Little Yellow Bicycle’s Twig line. I adore this line.

Journaling Reads:
One of the only regrets I have about living far away is that I am away from you, Yona. I know we had a tumultous childhood but we’ve grown into sisters who love each other so much and I am really sad we’re so away from each other. Even though I was really scared o leave the kids, I am so glad I took the plane to come see you while toy were in NYC. It will be one of my favorite memories of the two of us forever.

This is another Pink Paislee layout I made for CHA. It uses the Butterfly Garden line.

Journaling Reads:
My wonderful sister, I cannot believe how long it took for all of us to get back together again. I am so thankful that I took this trip to NYC so I could finally see your amazing family again. Those two days were some of the best in my life. Next time we will do it much much sooner.
