The Joy and Happiness of Making Art

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
Nathaniel you just found David’s old toy in the closet and have been playing with it ever since. I love how you sit there and draw for hours engrossed in the joy of creating art. Then you stop and admire your creation. Erase and then start all over again. I can see the joy in your face when you play, draw. and make art. It’s the same reason I love to create my son. And seeing you share the joy of art makes me happy!

Excited to be Celebrating Daddy’s Last Day and His New Life

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
On March 31, Daddy had his last day at work. He came home that night to find the sign that David made for him that day. We were all very excited for Daddy to start his new adventure. His own company. We love you so very much Daddy and we are so very proud of you and so very happy for you. We are also excited that this also means we wll get to see you and play with you more often.

Which has more stickers: the paper or your shirt?

This is a layout I made for the August My Mind’s Eye newsletter.

Journaling Reads:
Little boy, you absolutely love stickers but instead of sticking them on paper like you should, you like to stick them everywhere but. You especially like to stick them on your shirt and then you take them off and put them on the paper and then back to your shirt. Which of course doesn’t work since they don’t stick anymore and I end up picking them up from all over the floor. You’re lucky you’re so cute.

I Love That You’re Such a Happy Little Boy

This layout was for Maya Road CHA Summer show.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet boy just like your brother you are one happy boy. You love being goofy and making us all laugh. You love hearing others laugh and will always join in even if you have no idea what we’re all laughing at. Which, of course, makes us all laugh again. I have no idea how I got so lucky but I am so grateful that both my boys are so joyful and happy. I love you so much.

Catalyst 134 – A Solid Education is the Great Equalizer

Catalyst One Hundred and Thirty-Four is: What’s a cause you believe in (or a charity you support)? Why?

My journaling:
There are many causes I feel passionate about but at the very top of the list is education. I believe a high quality education can make all the difference in a person’s life. I think that all kids should have access to and deserve a good education. With that, one can achieve a lot in life and go farther than many others. There is a gap and we need to fix it.

You Much Prefer Making a Pretty Big Mess over Playing

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
One of the greatest joys of getting to work from home is watching you play all day long. You are pretty good at playing by yourself and keeping yourself entertained. You often like to play with trains and make lots of funny noises while you play. But lately you’ve started to enjoy creating a big mess. You dig a fork into your lego box and drag them all out. I think you really just like making a huge mess.

I loved celebrating your happy second birthday together with our neighbors

In June, I had the honor of guest designing with Little Yellow Bicycle’s Sweet Summertime collection. Here is one of my layouts:

My sweet boy, even though you can’t tell from the pictures, we celebrated your birthday in the little common area outside our house with all the neighbors and their kids. Ths was the second year we did it and it was so much fun to see all the kids more grown up than last year. I hope we can continue some form of this tradition every year. I love you o much my son. HAppy happy second birthday.

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
Sweet little boy sometimes when i try to take photos of you, you give me the stink eye because I am not giving you what you want at that moment. but even your stink eye is so very cute. I love you.

The Best part of summer is watching you play together

In June, I had the honor of guest designing with Little Yellow Bicycle’s Sweet Summertime collection. Here is one of my layouts:

Journaling Reads:
My sweet boys, i know summer can be a lot of work for a work at home mommy like me and i am trying o make sure you have a lot to do so that I can work without interruption as much as possible. But I am also looking forward to summer so much because it means David will be home everyday and I can watch the two of you play together. That is my very favorite thing to do lately. It makes me feel so very grateful and deeply happy.

You are Proof that Boys Can be Sweet and Quiet Too

This layout was for Maya Road CHA Summer show.

Journaling Reads:
You are proof that boys can be sweet and quiet too: I know little boys and even big boys can be super loud and you make your share of noise in the house, but you two also can be really quiet when you look out the window together or color together and I love watching you even more during those quieter moments. My boys can be so very sweet!

Your First Real Egg Hunt

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
Nathaniel even though this was not your first egg hunt, for the last tow years you didn’t really get what it’s about. This time, you collected all the eggs and enjoyed it so much. You get it now my boy.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

This layout is for Write.Click.Scrapbook’s July Gallery. The theme is to scrap with no photos.

Journaling Reads:
when I was a little girl i thought this poem was so sad. As a teenager i copied it from diary to diary. always feeling a pull to it. But i always thought it was depressing that good things didn’t last and that the beauty of life is so very ephemeral. but now that i am much much older I feel so differently. This is a reminder that everything is ephemeral so I try to enjoy each and every moment.

Poem Reads:
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
