Your Smile

This is with A Million Memories February Kit.

Many people ask me how I can work from home.
There are a lot of stressful moments and sometimes
I get worn out, but then you come over and give me
one of those magical smiles and I am filled with joy
and gratitude to get to see those smiles all day long.

A Growing Shoe Obsession in Progress

Journaling Reads:
Even though you haven’t owned any pairs so far (or maybe that’s why) you are obsessed with putting on shoes. You will put on any that you see and try to walk around. Your favorites are of course David’s shoes cause they can be put on easily and do not weigh so much so you can walk around. I just wish you didn’t want to wear them inside the house so much. Though you do look so cute. I love you.

It Gives you Endless Joy and Comfort

This was made for a Crate Paper sketch contest two months or so ago.

Journaling Reads:
I’ve never had a boy who likes to suck his thumb before and even though everyone likes to warn me about future orthodontist and how I should start looking for cures. Cover it with something spicy but not harmful someone said. And you have managed to infect your thumb twice already which means medicine and gauze and lots convincing you to keep them on, it’s all a lot of a pain but when I watch you, I can see how it calms you down and makes you happy. So go ahead my boy, enjoy every moment of it. I love you.

You Make the Sun Shine Brighter

This uses the November A Million Memories Kit and Jennifer’s sketch. It took forever to make it!!

Journaling Reads:
I must say that despite the challenges each day with your love and laughter feels full of joy and sunshine. Thank you for making my world brighter.

and I made a movie while I was making this one, too so you can see just how painful it was to do all those hearts:

The Story of a Boy who Got His Way

Journaling Reads:
This is a common scene in our house: David doing something and you watching him, wishing you could do it too. On this day, he was outside having Daddy pull him around in the little red wagon. At first you were watching him with confusion and interest, not sure what you thought, but then you saw him smile and heard him laugh and it didn’t take you long to deduce he was having a lot of fun and within seconds your face was scrunched up and tears were running down your cheeks. This was the very best version of “It’s not fair!” you could display without speaking. There was much wailing and of course, Daddy heard you (along with all the neighbors, I’m sure!) so within minutes you were in the wagon with a big smile. You might not talk yet but you sure know how to get your way already.

None of us Can Resist Your Charm or your Whining

This is with A Million Memories November Kit.

Journaling Reads:
Nathaniel, I must tell you that you have some magical powers when it comes to getting your way. You are really good at being charming and pointing at things you want. Most of the time they are things David wants or has or does. And you often start by asking nicely and snuggling up to get it from him. But David’s learned his lesson and doesn’t always give in. Then you start the whining and crying and we love you so much, we often give up and let you have what you want. You’re a lucky boy.

It All Works Because of You

This is with A Million Memories November Kit.

Journaling Reads:
So many people ask me how I manage to work full time and still take care of the kids without help. The thing is, I have help. Not professional help but you are my greatest treasure. You are kind to me and Nathaniel. You clean up. You help out. It all works thanks to you my wonderful boy. I love you.

Because I thought it would be fun, I videotaped myself while making this layout so you can watch it if you’d like.

You Can Find Delight and Joy and Happiness in Anything

Journaling Reads:
One of the greatest joys of having a little boy around is that he can find laughter and joy in the smallest things. You found that when you stepped on these sheets your feet stuck a little and made a funny noise. IT was so cool to you that you kept doing it again and again and laughing and giggling each time. Within minutes David and I were watching you and giggling along. You have made our life so much better and filled it with laughter by just being you. Thank you my son.

Practice Makes Perfect or Does it?

Journaling Reads:
Since I knew your school photo was coming up, I tried to get you to learn how to smile properly to the camera. Day after day we practiced but your smiles never stopped being awkward. You would look down, all demure, and make this fake smile. As we approached the big day, things seemed to be better. I thought that maybe all that practice was finally paying off. On the day you went to get the photos done I just wished for the best. And while you were looking at the camera, your smile was as goofy as ever. I will cherish this so much more.

Weekly Layouts – Sharing Your Story

This is something I did a while ago for Nathaniel’s baby book. It was a lift of a member layout for A Million Memories blog.

December Daily 2010 – Setup

I finally finished my December Daily album this past weekend. A few months ago, I’d already decided to use a pre-made album this year. I bought a 6×6 American Crafts modern album in red and decorated the cover with muslin, linen and ribbon.

I then put it aside and couldn’t decide what to do with it for quite some time. I first thought I’d make mini-layouts each day and so I’d fill it with white cardstock and page protectors. Then I thought, no, I need more variety. I went back and forth for weeks. I couldn’t decide if I wanted something plain, something artsy, something simple. I finally ended up doing what I do each year partly because I like that most of the album is premade this way. I work with what I have. Having said that, I reserve the right to still change my mind. I might scrap the whole thing and go back to just white. I might use these pages in a weird way. I have no idea. That’s what December is for.

With all that, here are my pages so far. Most of them use The Girls’ Paperie, My Mind’s Eye, Collage Press, papers I had left over from the previous December albums, and the only addition this year is 6 pajama fabrics I bought. More on these later. A LOT of images here obviously so apologies in advance.

For those of you who receive my posts by email I did not want to fill up you inbox with all the images, so I didn’t mail out this post.

For some inexplicable reason I didn’t take a photo of the back. Will do so soon.

Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to respond asap.

More on December Daily soon.

I Love Watching Your Brotherly Love

This was for the My Mind’s Eye November Newsletter.

There’s nothing I love more in this world than watching the two of you hug and show love towards each other. It makes me so grateful. I love you so much.
