Day six was my first day back and it was a full one. It started with Breakfast with Santa so I knew that was going to be my first story from the day.

a full, full day.
Day Five is all about my trip back home. Our last night in Zurich, going out with friends and then walking around town a bit and then a few shots out of the airplane.

Day four is dedicated to the boys. While I was in Zurich, Jake was here being a single parent. To add more fun, it poured all week, making it extra unpleasant. But the boys did wonderfully and I wanted to make sure to document all their adventures.

So I am finally back from Zurich and one of the first things on my mind (after kissing and hugging my husband and my boys) was to get going on the December Daily. I don’t like being behind since it becomes easy to just let the whole project drop on the floor if one feels behind. So I was determined not to have that happen.
I worked feverishly and I am finally all caught up and deep in the joy of this project. I will post each of the pages as separate posts but if you’re reading this on email, I don’t want to spam you with five emails so feel free to come to karenika.com and see them all there.
Ok here’s day one. Let me share the before photo first:

Nathaniel Reads to Mommy is a project for 2014 that I am doing with my 4.5-year-old son. You can read more about it here.

This week’s inspiration comes from this pin. I used gelatos and a lot of stitching on this one. it was really fun to make!

I decided to finish the Legend series by tackling Prodigy and Champion. I had really liked Legend so I was looking forward to these two.
I really liked Prodigy but lost all my interest by the time I got to Champion. To be totally honest, I can’t even remember what happened.
Alas, I don’t regret reading them. Just wish these books would be singles instead of trilogies.
This is one of the Week in the Life pages I made that will be going into my Savor album for 2014:

this week is all about david (above) and nathaniel (below.)

July was another two-pager. The assignment was to pick three things: One self care item, one thing to celebrate, and one thing to give.
I chose to celebrate doing 10K steps each day and to eat salads each day for lunch as my self-care. For giving, I decided to use the two big trips we took to see family.

And for my final month, I decided to pick Listen Deeply. December is a reflective month for me. I like to slow down and go deeper. I like to read, think about, and journal on self-growth. My wishes, hopes, plans, goals, growth for the next year. It’s a great time for me to go deeper.
Here’s the pin where I got the lettering..
