looks like I missed one more page from turkey 🙂 these are all from Bodrum, Turkey. See you next week! The Savor Project is a weekly project for 2013. You can see a detailed post on my goal and other details here. Here’s this week’s card: It says: it is okay to be you just as you are. This card uses a template from The Crafter’s Workshop (as well as a few others.) and acrylic paint. Gratitude PostCards is a weekly project for 2013. I read about The Beggar King and the Secret of Happiness from Andrea Scher’s blog. She mentioned she loved it and it was an impromptu buy for me. Which is pretty rare. But something about this book clearly spoke to me. The funny thing is, once it arrived, I read the first two pages and then stopped. For weeks. I didn’t pick it up again. I wasn’t sure what it was about, I wasn’t sure I wanted to read it. Blah blah. When I finally picked it up, I read the whole thing in one sitting. It was that good. If you’re into wonderful (true) stories that are interesting and inspiring, this is your book. It’s not for everyone but for those who like it, they will love it. Here’s this week’s gratitudes and celebrations: Before: it says: do not dim the joy or the pain. let it all in. live your life in full color. and here’s what the page looks like with all the gratitudes and celebrations: Just another excuse to create art and remember the present that is my life. Gratitude Journal is a weekly project for 2013. You can see a detailed post on my goal other details here. Here are some photos from this week: David at his NASA camp. He used the Kerbal Space Program. which he loved. and did some Scratch programming. then we went out to celebrate. the kids got to color at the restaurant. i love this photo and his expression. and the love of my life. I had to go to work a bunch this week and the kids made a fort while i was gone. so Jake snapped some shots. which made me laugh. thank you, love. and then it was family photo time. i love getting to do this. even if for 15 minutes. the laughter and tiny joyful moments. amongst the “be quiet, smile, look at the camera!!!” ones, of course. and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too. Weekly Diary is a project for 2013. You can read more about it here. Before this week’s art here’s the important reminder: Please remember, this is personal and hand-made and thus imperfect. If you want perfect art, do not buy mine. Also one more reminder that these are pretty small. 5.5inches by 5.5inches. That’s about 14×14 centimeters). You will just get the original piece of watercolor paper with my art and signature in the back. No mounting, no frame. I don’t want to misrepresent anything. I will put a paypal button under each (you can pay with credit card or paypal.) the button doesn’t update so you will have to click through to see if it’s sold out. I will try to update them as quickly as I can and remove the button if it’s gone, but just in case. Each piece will be $35. That’s US dollars. If you have questions please leave a comment and I will reply as fast as I can. With that here’s this week’s art: it reads: to pursue one dream you must be willing to let go of another. I read The House of the Spirits also because it was picked for book club. I had never read Allende before so I figured it was the perfect occasion. This was said to be like Marquez, which I love. Alas this wasn’t as goos as Marquez, in my opinion. The characters were less likeable and the overall story and tone wasn’t as well-done. But I still liked reading it and am glad I did. Since I have never read anything else by her, I can’t be sure if it’s her best or if her other books are anything like this one. In the end, the book club decided to pick something else so I made my way through this thick book for nothing. Well, not for nothing, of course. Now I’ve read an Allende. Here’s this week’s card: It says: never ever ever ever give up. never. This card uses a template from The Crafter’s Workshop (as well as a few others.) and acrylic paint. If I don’t, that’s ok. Trying to keep the pressure low while still encouraging myself to draw. Finally trying to get back into the groove of things. Here are the ones I’ve done in the ladt few weeks:
that’s it for this week. Sketching is a weekly project for 2013. You can see a detailed post on my sketching journey here. Before getting there, we stopped by the city to visit Jake’s cousin on his tugboat. I tried really hard to get a good photo of all the boys. but it just wasn’t meant to be. Nathaniel’s life jacket was a few sizes too big. but he was having fun anyway. David liked it, too, I think. They were both pretty curious and it was both interesting and fascinating being there. Thank you, cousin Dominic. When we got to the hotel, I snapped what I think is one of the best photos of David. I tried to get some of Nathaniel, too. but he wasn’t as accommodating. I snapped some anyway. he’s such a cutie patootie. the next day we decided to go to Sausalito. We started with a lunch where the kids got to use the orange squeezing machine. Nathaniel got a turn too. he loved putting the orange in. right at the top. and then letting it go and watching the machine squeeze it. then we went to the Bay Model which is a model of the whole San Francisco Bay. The kids absolutely loved it. they wanted to see every single corner. and then it was time for family shots. nathaniel adding his own flavor of course. lest he seem unenthusiastic. and tickle time of course! and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.
