I read Capital for book club. It was a book I would have never picked up on my own. And while I enjoyed it okay, I didn’t love it.
It would have been okay if I’d never read it. But I don’t regret it like I do some books (I’m speaking about you, Gone Girl!) so, all in all, if the subject interests you, I say go for it.
Otherwise, there are many better books.
I totally understand what you mean about “regretting” reading a book – I felt the same way about Gone Girl! I disliked the characters in that book so much that I finally quit reading it about 2/3 of the way through. I didn’t even care how it ended.
Gone Girl is the reason that I no longer force myself to finish a book.
