Catalyst 131 – I am so very very Content

Catalyst One Hundred and Thirty-One is: Describe (or show) yourself at this point in your life.

Journaling Reads:
It might not be sexy but what I feel more than anything at this moment is so very content. I feel like I am full of peace and joy but I also feel calm. I feel my career, my family, my art, and life in general are exactly where I wish them to be at this moment. And I do not take that for granted for a second. I work out daily. I spend time with my kids. I do all my work and fulfill my obligations. But I also know I am so lucky. And things will change. Tougher times will come. So I celebrate this moment of contentment.

Always Choose Peace

I had the honor to guest design for My Creative Scrapbook kit club in March. This is one of the layouts I made with their main kit.

Journaling Reads:
No matter what is going on, give up that there’s something wrong and always go where the peace is. Always be grateful.

This is for my desk. I need this reminder regularly.

You Love Your Daddy Time

I had the honor to guest design for My Creative Scrapbook kit club in March. This is one of the layouts I made with their main kit.

Journaling Reads:
One of my favorite things to photograph is you and daddy. How much you love each other and how happy you are when he’s playing with you. I know he cherishes these moments with you as much as you love them. You two have a special relationship and I love watching you so much.

One Day

This layout is for Write.Click.Scrapbook’s May Gallery. The theme is to scrap a day in the life.

Journaling Reads:
7. After breakfast at 6am, we take David to the bus so he can go to school. 8. Then it’s time for me to exercise. Treadmill and nike+ for 2.8 miles. 9. After the morning exercise I take my peace time which is also breakfast. Coffee with graham crackers (but no chocolate.) If I am lucky I can also get in some quiet journaling time. 10. While I do all this Nathaniel plays quietly and reads books. Then it’s time for work. Lately it’s all about dev releases. 12. If it’s a weekend, we take this time to do a family shot. I love these. 3. David is ready to pick up at 2:45 so when we come home we read books together. 4. Then he works on his workbooks. Most days it’s reading, writing, or math. He really likes doing them. 5. Then it’s time to write the gratitude journal. One sentence. 5. If it’s Sunday, we have family night, if not it’s playtime. 6. The kids go to bed at six so I process the daily photos. 8. And finally it’s time for some art. I get a few quiet hours and then it’s time for bed around 10pm. I love my simple life.

The Bird Cage

Now that CHA is passed, I wanted to share some of my The Girls’ Paperie work I made for the show. All products are from The Girls’ Paperie Kitch or Mix and Match lines. I love this birdhouse.

The Comfort and Security of a Blanket

I had the honor to guest design for My Creative Scrapbook kit club in March. This is one of the layouts I made with their main kit.

Journaling Reads:
You’ve sucked you thumb from a very young age but this blanket obsession is all new. You started taking this one blanket everywhere you go. You sleep with it and go in the car with it. David never had these comforts so I wasn’t sure how to handle it. The more I watched you, the more I realized how much comfort and sense of safety it gives you. So I decided to support you fully. I love you my son and I love the blanket, too.

I Hope and Pray Everyday that I did Right by You

This second Pink Paislee project was an inspiration piece, too.

It was inspired by this amazing cake:

White, teal, pink and red might be my favorite color combination of all time.

The journaling Reads:
My sweet boy, as your mom, I make daily decisions that shape your future. What school you get to go to, which friends you can play with, what activities are best, etc. And while I always do my very best to think it through I also worry every day that my decisions are the best ones for you I hope and pray that I am opening and closing the right doors. One thing I know, I am doing my very best to do right by your every step of the way.

We Love Our Great Project

This is the second layout I shared on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.

Journaling Reads:
I decided at the end of last year that we needed more photos of all four of us together so now we take family photos each weekend. Not only are these some of my favorite shots but they are also some of our most fun moments together. Hooray for awesome new projects.

Everything except for the letters is from the Little Yellow Bicycle Elizabeth Park line

My Love Grows Deeper Every Single Day

One of my Pink Paislee projects for this month was to lift a member from the Live Pink gallery. Here’s my layout:

and here’s the amazing layout I lifted by Diana Brodeur

I am a huge white-space fan and the softness of this layout really spoke to me. I loved that it was asymmetrical and I also loved the little layered elements. So when creating my layout, I replaced her circle with a heart (I am too scared to mist, so I didn’t even try that even though I absolutely love the misting she did on her layout.) I then layered my ephemera.

While the layout has several elements I use on most of my pages (I stitched a border and around the heart and I put an edgie on the right top corner) I think the look and feel of it is definitely similar to Diane’s stunning original.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet son when you were born I fell so deeply in love with you that I did no think there was any way I could love you any more. But I was wrong . As you grow more and more each day, my love for you grows too. I am so proud of you and so thankful that you’re my boy. I love you more and more every day.

You Taught Me to Imagine the Possibilities and Create with Abandon

I made this layout a few weeks ago for something that didn’t pan out. I love these Compendium cards and was glad to get to use them. All products are from beautiful The Girls’ Paperie. The two-pager is something unusual for me and I don’t think I will be doing it often. Or like ever again… Heh.

The journaling is using your word stickers, and it says:
“I need to remember how you enjoy yourself and have fun with my art, too.”

A Not So Fine Memory is Worth Capturing Too

A few months ago, I had the honor to be a guest blogger on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog and here’s one of the two layouts I shared:

Journaling Reads:
I love capturing the smiles and the laughter but I do also think that it’s important and worthwhile to preserve these more tender, more difficult moments. They are a part of our life and I know that, years later, I will cherish these tearful moments, too. All of our life is magical and changes too quickly.

Catalyst 130 – Miracles Happen – 21 Years Later

Catalyst One Hundred and Thirty is: Tell us about a Favorite/special piece of clothing.

Journaling Reads:
I have saved this pair of jeans for 21 years. They traveled with me from Turkey to Pittsburgh to New York to San Diego and to the Bay Area. People told me to throw them out several times. “You can never fit the jeans you wore at 17.” I heard again and again. But I couldn’t bear to give up. And now that I am finally losing all this weight, I can finally fit into them once again (they don’t close just yet but still.) miracles do happen.
