Tis the Season to be Merry

This is a layout I made for My Mind’s Eye’s Holiday Showcase back in December.

Since I spend all of December doing my December Daily album, I often don’t feel like scrapping most of my holiday adventures. Each year, I make one layout that captures the holiday. This year, I put together all of my favorite photos from throughout December and made a collage on my page. This way I can pull out this one page and remember this year’s wonderful holiday season.

Published

I rarely ever submit to anything. I am too saddened by rejection and it’s often so much work. Especially to submit to magazines. I also always journal on my layouts and my handwriting is not beautiful or often legible. Which does not make me a good candidate. So it’s very rare to see any of my pages in a magazine.

However, I had the amazing honor of being published in the November/December 2010 issue of Swedish Scrapbooking m. m. magazine. They picked up a few of my layouts and a minibook.

This is a CHA Summer layout I made for The Girls’ Paperie

mine are the two on the right, more The Girls’ Paperie.

the mini i made with Maya Road goodies.

And then they did a feature article about my layout a day in may adventure.

Even though I cannot understand a word of it, I was so incredibly delighted to see my work in print. I am deeply thankful to scrapbooking m.m. for making me so so happy.

Thank you for letting me share my joy.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

This layout is made with the December A Million Memories kit.

Journaling reads:
If you were just to look at the first picture you’d think Nathaniel is hugging and kissing David (which, to be fair, he does often) but then you see the second photo and you realize how you are so wrong. That’s how it is with out little boys. They can be sneaky. But I love my boys and I love capturing these moments even though they expose the bad boy moments. I love them and all but it’s good to remember looks can deceive.

Our Rare Moment Captured Forever

A new month means a new write.click.scrapbook gallery. This month’s challenge is to scrap a black and white photo. You can see the full gallery here!

Journaling Reads:
It’s rare for us to get to go out together all dressed up and I wanted to capture it forever. Thankfully, your dad was around to take this photo. 9.5.2010

December Daily – Day 25

I love this photo of our table so I wanted to make sure it ended up in our book.

for the back, I ended with a photo of all of us on Christmas day.

And that’s day twenty-five. And that’s also the end of the book for this year. I must admit I enjoyed it less than usual this year but I am still so glad I did it. The book ended up quite big.

But I am glad I used a binder book because it’ still much more firmly held together than the previous years’ books.

Love this project.

December Daily – Day 24

Since this year is a lot about getting in the photos, I decided to put this photo of Nathaniel and me for the front page today. The colors matched a page I had slated for day 27 so I switched them around.

for the back, I put one of each of the kids opening their Christmas eve presents (they each get one the night before).

And that’s day twenty-four.

I normally take this album to day 31 but this year I decided to go with 25 days. I want to spend the last week planning and preparing for 2011 so having this project completed and my table cleaned will help me with that. So tomorrow is my last page. I’ve taken it very easy this year and have loved putting this album together even if it’s one of my simpler ones.

December Daily – Day 23

I loved that I had two wonderful photos of my kids so I sized them small and put them in the front. I added a sticker for each so I could journal a bit about what they did that day.

for the back, I put the presents photo.

And that’s day twenty-three.

My Mind’s Eye Blog Hop

Hello!

Welcome to My Mind’s Eye Holiday Blog Hop!

I wanted to start by telling you how much I love My Mind’s Eye and their beautiful products. The layouts I made using their products are among some of my very favorites. Here’s a recent favorite layout:

I just love the colors and patterns in their paper so much!!

Ok, I can go on and on about that for a long time and I know you’re here for the blog hop so let’s get on with it.

You special word is “MERRY“.

If you’ve landed here from Tiffani’s blog, you’re going in the right order, if not, go back and start on the My Mind’s Eye blog to ensure you can get the right phrase. Trisha Ladouceur is next on your list!!

For a chance to win Holly Jolly, I Believe and Union Square you can do one of two things:

1. Email Amber (amber@mymindseye.com) with all 12 words in the secret phrase.
2. Leave a comment. (My Mind’s Eye will randomly draw one of our designer’s blogs and choose a winner from their blog comments. So, the more comments you leave, the greater your chances of winning.)

The winner will be announced December 30th on the My Mind’s Eye blog.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!!

December Daily – Day 22

I wanted to journal some today so I used some of the rubons I’ve had for over two years and added them inside my journaling. I am not good with rubons and not a fan. This was a fun way to use them up.

for the back, i just had fun. I rubbed grateful on a tag and added stickers and embellies until I liked the look of it.

And that’s day twenty-two.

Holiday Project – Handmade Tags – Punched Ornaments

I made this tag for technique week at A Million Memories.

For my technique, I did something simple but fun.

1. I inked my office tag with Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass distress inks.
2. I used two of my Martha Stewart circular punches and the Girls’ Paperie Tinsel & Twig Festive Brocade paper to create some three-dimensional ornaments.
3. I then hung them on my tag with twine.
4. I took a few word stickers from the Girls’ Paperie Tinsel & Twig sticker sheet and stitched them down.
5. Then I stitched around my tag twice.
That’s it!!

I made a movie to show you how to make the ornaments:

And here’s one more look.

December Daily – Day 21

I left today’s cover as it was in the album.

I like the little tree on this page.

behind it, I added a 6×4 page with the tree lights (Ali tweeted about this a few days ago and it reminded me I wanted to try it too, Thank you Autumn!!!)

in the back, I put a photo of David I took yesterday that I love:

And that’s day twenty-one.

Catalyst 126 – No One Can Hurt You Without Your Permission

Catalyst One Hundred and Twenty-Six is: Tell us about a time someone hurt your feelings.

Thoughts:
There are many moments from my past that I can dredge up with sadness or hurt but I decided from now on the path is about looking forward and freeing myself of the idea that things can happen to me. I control my emotions and my life. People cannot hurt me if I don’t let them and I choose joy and not hurt. So here’s to being free and letting go of the past and embracing joy.

This was made with the December A Million Memories Kit.
