You Choose - Week 10

This week’s pick is about feeling alive. No matter what people say, there are some people who are just doers. I value presence and I value serene. But I also value getting things done. It’s who I am. It’s what brings me joy and fulfillment. I love learning. I love growing. It makes me feel alive. It gives me joy. And I love feeling that.

here is a side look for the shimmer; not too much shimmer on this one:

You Choose - Week 9

This week’s pick is to being alive. Being brave. Choosing to fly. Being edgy. Being who you are when no one’s watching. Wearing your wings. Spreading them and flying again and again. I wanted to do something different this time. I used more black than I usually would. I have mixed feelings about it. It’s feeling edgy to me. But also not like me. Not my usual soft and happy colors. Sometimes it’s good to try new things.

You Choose - Week 8

This week is all about abundance. About glitter and leaving a trail of it. Sharing the good. Sprinkling it all over everyone. Being generous with everything. My time, my kindness, my love, my sweetness, my patience. My kindness. Here’s to sprinkling glitter every single day.

You Choose - Week 7

This week, I decided to remember serenity. I feel like this year, I’ve done a good job honoring the alive and possibly even open, but not so much on serene. I want to take moments to embrace peace. Moments to sit with a blanket and some tea. To watch the sea. To honor being here. Being now. To honor the privilege of my life. This week is all about remembering that.

You Choose – Week 6

This week’s pick is one that makes me feel every one of my core desired feelings: the sea. I love the sea. I crave the sea. I am so grateful for the sea. There’s nothing as magical as the sound of the waves hitting the shore. I am so glad to be so close to the sea and I need to remember to visit the sea way more often.

You Choose - Week 7

Even though I like lattes as much as the next person, at heart, I’m a tea person. A cup of tea and a blanket to curl up in is enough to make me feel centered and serene. Add a good book to the combination and I won’t move from my spot for hours.

So thankful for simple pleasures in life.

You Choose – Week 6

This photo of the house by the sea makes me happy each time I look at it. To me, the sea is the culmination of all things that I want to feel. It simultaneously makes me feel serene and alive. The sea is also abundant and so very open. I am never happier than when I am by the sea.

Maybe one day, I’ll be lucky enough to have my own little house by the sea.

You Choose - Week 5

It was only fair that I tackle abundance next since I did all the other three in previous weeks. This was the perfect picture for it. I love how it looks and it reminds me that there’s plenty to go around. The text says “I open my hands to blessings.” Blessings. There are so many of them. Enough to feed me and everyone around me.

I am so grateful for the abundance in my life.

here is a side look for the shimmer; i wanted to keep this really simple as it’s my goal with this project:

here’s to remembering how my cup overflows.

You Choose - Week 4

This week’s pick is a bed that makes me feel serene when I look at it. I love the light coming in, the white covers, and the plants by the window. All of this makes me feel so serene. I coupled it with a sentence from an old Brave Girl’s class I took. It says “I choose happiness.” That’s what serenity is about for me. Choosing happiness. Choosing calm. Choosing to know all is ok and will always be ok.

You Choose - Week 3

This week’s pick is a hand and on the inside of the wrist is a tattoo that says “alive”. I don’t have any tattoos but if I got one, that’s where I would want it to be. I coupled it with some sentences from an old Brave Girl’s class I took. One says “I let myself be a learner” because when I am learning, I feel alive. And the other one says “I cheer myself on” because I want to be my own biggest advocate. I want to root for myself. I want to come fully alive.

here is a side look for the shimmer, you can’t see it very well, but the transparent sequins shine beautifully:

here’s to being able fully alive.

You Choose - Week 2

This week’s pick says “be open to whatever comes next.” I loved this the moment I saw it. It has one of my desired feelings “open” and it’s a reminder to be willing to receive. To let go of the need to control. To be open to possibilities. To be open to the wonders of the universe. To be present.

here are some closeups:

here’s to being able to stay open.

2015 Projects - You Choose - Intro and Week 1

I like to spread out my projects by style and medium (as well as topic) each year. So when it came to designing my projects, I wanted to pick something that wasn’t painting or coloring, at least not just painting. The very same week I was thinking about all this, I saw this beautiful collage. It was very sparse, elegant and really beautiful.

I decided that’s what I wanted. A collage project. My last collage project was back in 2012 so I thought it might be fun to tackle one again. Something different than what I did last time. I think….but we’ll see.

The introspective part of this project is to couple this art with my code desires. I went to pinterest and made a board of images/phrases that remind me of my core desires. My plan is to print one for each of my collage pages. This way, I can always remember my core desired feelings.

That’s the plan, at least.

Here’s another look at week 1:

Love all the shimmer.

I am planning to keep my spreads relatively sparse. Mix in some paint. Have fun.

Here’s to a year of collages that remind me to focus on feeling the way I want to feel.
