Remember This – Week 28

Life Book week nineteen was taught by Danielle Daniel. I love the girls Danielle makes. They are different than my usual, more delicate style. I was excited to try them. To learn from her.

I loved her lesson but then I froze up. I just didn’t feel like sitting and drawing.

When I finally sat down, this is what came out.

Here’s what I love. I like her face and her peaceful expression. I like the writing. It says: embrace peace, choose calm. I like the halo-ish lines that make her shine too.

Here’s what I don’t love: I don’t like her clothes, they lack character, depth, interest. I don’t like hands. They are hard. But, most of all, I don’t like the blue background. I am a white background gal through and through. I don’t know how I forgot that.

In the end, one more assignment down and I can’t say I didn’t learn. So, all in all, I put this down on the plus column.

Listen with Intent – Week 28

For this week, I picked pause because the first step to being patient is being able to slow down and take things one step at a time. If I don’t pause, and I just jump into action, I can’t do that. Patience is slowing down. Patience is completely stopping where needed. I like the idea of pause because it’s not stop. It implies that there will be a resume coming soon. It implies intentional slowing down.

The lettering I used here comes from this pin.

The image here is supposed to be the pause sign from a VCR or DVD player, music, etc.

Remember This – Week 27

Back to Life Book. Life Book week seventeen was taught by Tascha Parkinson. Her style, too, is nothing like mine. Her page was small, sweet, and cute. I decided to make her character gigantic. It’s cute.

Way cuter than I am likely to make on my own. But I like the colors, the way it’s so different, and it’s cuteness too I guess.

The text says: grateful and all the journaling in the background is about all the things for which I am grateful.

Another different page. My goal with Life Book was to practice something different regularly and I am definitely getting that.

Listen with Intent – Week 27

A new month is a new theme. Since I have yet another long trip this month, I decided Patiently would be a good goal for this month. I could certainly use more patience. And it’s one of the core requirements of listening, if you ask me. So my intent this month is to slow down. To really be patient and slow and calm. This is not typical for me and it will not be easy but I hope to stick with it.

The lettering I used here comes from this pin.

The image here is supposed to be an hourglass.

Today I Know – Week 26

This week’s inspiration comes from this pin. I am sorry the photo is low quality. My camera and I have been fighting on focus. I drew this with my Micron pen and colored with color pencils.

prompt says: today i know that i never want to forget

I wrote about how awesome david’s presentation was and how i want to remember my kids are different from me and that i want to cultivate who they are as they are.

Remember This – Week 26

We take a little break from Life Book this week, to look at a page I made for My Mind’s Eye. I liked their new flairs and decided to just have fun with them. It’s a simple, quick page. But It was fun. Sometimes doing art is just about having fun. Sometimes it’s quick and fun.

The text on the sticker says: It’s the Little Things that Make Life Worth Living

Isn’t that true? We forget that so often. But it’s really the deepest truth there is. Life is all about the tiny little moments. The ones that are full of joy.

so here we are.

Listen with Intent – Week 26

For this week, I picked ask. Part of being creative is asking more, asking differently, asking others for their perspective. Asking (instead of telling) opens up my world, allows it to have other possibilities. It also prolongs the listening. If I am asking, I am not talking, I am listening to the reply. I am asking more, deeper, differently. I like all these options. I like the idea of choosing to ask and not tell. That’s my plan this week. Ask differently. Ask more. Ask.

The lettering I used here comes from this pin.

The image here is supposed to be a man holding up a question mark.
