This week’s page was for One Little Word. The prompt was about music but I decided to do mottos for myself instead. These are all notes to self. They are things I want to remember and use as mantras for myself.

And finally, for the last week, I decided to set an intention to embrace life. To embrace all the wonderful messages from the universe, from my community, my friends, my kids, my wonderful husband, my loving family. Embrace all the good in my life.

This week is all about connecting with people and allowing myself to go deeper into the community. I often tend to do become more of a hermit in the holiday season. This will allow me to reach out more and go deeper with my friends. It will also allow me to connect my thoughts and others’ words more deeply, see patterns, look for what’s unsaid. and more.

Part of going deeper is seeking things. Listening deeply to the universe, seeking its lessons and signs. Seeking the real meaning behind the words of others. Looking for my desires and listening for the good. What I like about seek is that it’s very active. It implies involvement, actively trying to go deeper. Here’s to a week of seeking!

And for my final month, I decided to pick Listen Deeply. December is a reflective month for me. I like to slow down and go deeper. I like to read, think about, and journal on self-growth. My wishes, hopes, plans, goals, growth for the next year. It’s a great time for me to go deeper.

For my last intention in November I decided to pick donate. Donating my time, my support, my attention to those I love. Listening more openly, listening for an opportunity that might need me to donate more of myself to the conversation. It seems weird when I write it down but to me, this intention makes perfect sense 🙂

Another way of listening kindly, for me, is obliging. Being willing to do what the other person wants. My kids often want to come talk to me and many times, i am in the middle of something and my instinct is to tell them to come back later. But this week is all about obliging them. Putting them first. Listening to them when they would like me to.

For this week’s intention I decided to go with support. I believe a big part of being kind is being supportive, allowing others to be who they are and supporting them instead of listening with any agenda of my own. To me, this means asking questions, being positive, and genuinely listening.

A new month is a new intention, for November I picked Listen Kindly. I want to focus on kindness. I think, at the end of the day, kindness is all that matters. And I am always working to be kinder, more patient, gentler with myself and with others. With my husband. With my kids. This feels like one of those things I will never fully achieve. Something I could always be working on. And I guess this month is as good a start as any. Here’s to some kind listening in November!

For this week, I picked deliberate. To be careful and aware, I need to be more deliberate. I need to be deliberate about what I am listening to and what I am not listening to. I need to be deliberate about what’s being said and not being said and listen to all the layers in a conversation. I want to be this way all the time to be honest. If I were more deliberate, I would be so much more articulate and a more powerful listener.

For this week, I picked alert. To be careful and aware, I need to be alert. I need to pay attention. I can’t multi-task. I can’t be paying attention to something else. I can’t listen half-heartedly. I need to really be there, be present, be on. Here’s to being really alert all week.

For this week, I picked beginner. As in beginner’s mind. Approaching everything as if for the first time. As if I have no idea what they mean. Hearing things for the first time. Listening with a new fresh attitude. No preconceived ideas. No premade conclusions. Being open and new. A beginner.
