A Book a Week – Haven and Mirage

I read Haven and Mirage when I was looking for something fun to read. I had no idea what the topic was. And I don’t want to ruin it just in case you want to read.

But I will say I wouldn’t have read it if I knew. In the end it was a fun read and I don’t regret it. (Clearly since I read the second book, too.) but I can’t say it’s an excellent book. If you’re looking for a fun, easy read, go for it.

If not, there are many other better books.

But when the third comes out, I will likely read that, too.

Says a lot about me, I guess 🙂

2013 Sketching – Week 13

My goal for 2013 is to make three sketches a week. If I make more, great. If I don’t, that’s ok. Trying to keep the pressure low while still encouraging myself to draw.

Here are the ones for this week :

.

.

.

that’s it for this week.

Weekly Diary – March 23 2013

Here are some snapshots from our week:

we went to the Cartoon Art Museum in the city.

the lighting wasn’t camera-friendly of course.

but i snapped away anyway.

they had a TV playing looney tunes and the boys loved it.

I think this is meant to be a cartoon frame but Nathaniel was so small, it sort of didn’t work.

they were doing a promo for GI Joe 2 and there was a cartoonist drawing live and gifted the kids a few drawings.

then we went to Reverie again and I snapped shots of the boys while we waited for food.

i love these photos.

look at how similar they look.

then it was nathaniel’s turn.

facing daddy but looking at me.

after that we went to the pirate store on 826 Valencia which was a ton of fun.

the kids explored and played.

i think they liked the swords the best.

it was fun watching them play.

then it was family photo time.

Nathaniel’s counting until we say “We love Legos!”.

hug-time which was more like “grab your brother” time.

the boys were messing around and laughing like crazy so I grabbed my camera and snapped away.

even tho they are blurry i love them.

especially the hugging and kissing!

Nathaniel posed with his hat for me, too.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

SixBySix – Week 12

Before this week’s art here’s the important reminder: Please remember, this is personal and hand-made and thus imperfect. If you want perfect art, do not buy mine. Also one more reminder that these are pretty small. 5.5inches by 5.5inches. That’s about 14×14 centimeters). You will just get the original piece of watercolor paper with my art and signature in the back. No mounting, no frame. I don’t want to misrepresent anything. I will put a paypal button under each (you can pay with credit card or paypal.) the button doesn’t update so you will have to click through to see if it’s sold out. I will try to update them as quickly as I can and remove the button if it’s gone, but just in case. Each piece will be $35. That’s US dollars. If you have questions please leave a comment and I will reply as fast as I can.

With that here’s this week’s art:

it reads: everything good or bad is ephemeral. so learn from it, savor it and know it will pass.

sold thank you

See you next week!

A Book a Week – State of Wonder

I listened to State of Wonder on audio. I hadn’t read an Ann Patchett before so it was my first. This was a fun book to listen to while I sketched and did art.

There were several twists in the book and I liked them all ok. In the end, I didn’t think it was super-amazing and I hear Bel Canto is much better. But it was an okay read.

If you’re a fan of Patchett, it’s worth a read.

Then again, if you are, you’ve read by now I’m sure.

I Love My sweet amazing boys and their silly hats in every way

I noticed that it’s been a while since I shared any of my layouts with you. While I am doing a lot less scrapping lately, I am still making some pages and here’s a recent one I made for My Mind’s Eye.

journaling reads:
My boys like to be silly. They put hats on and make silly faces and laugh and laugh. Then can play one little hat for over twenty minutes. I don’t really understand how they can find so much joy and entertainment from such a small thing and yet they do. And I love that about them so much. How the smallest things can create joy in their lives. How they can entertain themselves and laugh and laugh. I love how easy it all is for them. It never was for me and I am so grateful that joy comes so easily to them and how happy they are. I love them so!!
