Today’s family shots were in the morning but we didn’t have much better luck. Aurelia chased after the remote.
and when we said no, he was all drama.
feeling really sorry for himself.
by the time we managed to make him smile, David was eyeing the remote.
after one brief second, we just gave up and started tickle time. Today, we told David he could tickle daddy instead of the other way around and he went for it full force.
I still tickled the little boy.
but he quickly realized the other two were having more fun and started in on daddy as well.
both kids totally loved it. Daddy…not as much.
then Jake went to work, I did art, David played and Aurelia napped. When he woke up he was all rested and pink.
he loves playing with legos.
and I love the little smile I caught.
Then Daddy came home and we went out to target to buy both kids some sticker books and we also bought a you-build Monopoly game for family night. So we got some food, and spent the night playing. It was a wonderful family time and both kids went down now and I have to check up on work to make sure all is ok but then I plan to relax during the last few hours of my weekend. Here’s to a great week. Three Things I’m Grateful For: Three Things David’s Grateful For:
David says: I like that Babe wanted to be a sheep herder just like his adopted mom. And I like that Fly took him seriously and taught him everything he knew. And Babe kept trying and trying and making sure he didn’t eat too much and practiced running a lot. It was great that he saved the sheep from the rustlers and the bad dogs and because of that he got live. He even got to go inside the house with Fly. Fly loved Pig so much that when he thought Pig might be in trouble, he tried very hard to be polite to the sheep so he could find out the truth (and then also again for the password.) My favorite part was when he won the sheep-dog trials and got a perfect 100! Reading a book a week with my six-year-old son David is a weekly project for 2011. You can read more about it here. another page with the big black letters, stitching, white background and bold, happy color. Makes me happy. I am creating multiple art journaling pages a week for July and August (and maybe longer). You can read more about it and the book I am using for these pages at the top of this blog post.
Last night we all seemed to have trouble sleeping. Maybe it was the walk late night or maybe not. Either way, Jake didn’t fall asleep for a long time, so when he was still sleeping and it was time for David’s swim class, I took him and tried to snap some photos, too. It’s hard to get good photos there and I’ll admit I didn’t try too hard.
then we came home, rested for a bit, did some art, etc, and it was time to take David to his birthday party. When we got home, we finally got to take the family photos. My boys were awesome.
David wanted Daddy to sit on him.
Both of the kids were in an off mood. Maybe cause it was a different time of day. Either way, this was the only good shot I got.
then David started making faces.
and Aurelia started his meltdown.
making his body all rigid.
and whining.
we tried to make him laugh but it didn’t work. And david had lost total interest by now.
so we did the only thing we could.
yey for tickle time!
Now they are both down and I am exhausted. I had a shoot scheduled for tomorrow but it’s off and I am grateful. I need a whole day of nothing to do. Three Things I’m Grateful For: Three Things David’s Grateful For:

I’d tell you all about today but really it’s over. I worked. I worked. I worked more. That’s it. What’s good is this photo of my little boy:
who is cute as a pie. and still loves school so much that he doesn’t want me to take him home.
and wanted to get in the photo with his big brother.
and make him laugh.
and this boy who is also loving school.
and this girl who did a 5K walk today.
with all of these boys.
It was a long day. It’s going to be a busy weekend. But I am thankful for so so much this week. And I feel like I can tackle more now. Here’s to a great weekend. Three Things I’m Grateful For: Three Things David’s Grateful For: Well here we are. Finally some progress. At least a small amount. I must admit that while the numbers are what got me here, the thing that’s great about obsessing over the weight loss is that I finally did kick my last bad habit to the curb. No coffee, no graham crackers. For over two weeks now. Healthier and less processed food. Even if it wasn’t resulting in weight loss, I am thankful that I was able to take the plunge and walk away from both of them. I’d like to say I have so much more energy with all this exercise and healthy eating but there are so many things happening at the same time so it’s hard to tell if I am tired cause I am so stressed or if the exercise and nutrition isn’t doing anything for my energy levels. The exercise is still going. Tonight we all did a 5K walk as a family so today I walked more than 9 miles total. Over 20,000 steps according to my fitbit. That’s more than I’ve ever done. I feel sore but proud and this 5K is along the baylands during the moonlight so it’s something I love doing with my family. Let’s just hope it won’t have a negative effect on tomorrow’s exercise. Either way, I am thankful that I did it. and here’s this week’s card:

Well another day of this week went by. It was another long long day but I am feeling like I am being productive at work and haven’t fully fallen apart just yet. I am getting up at 5:45 just to make sure I exercise before the day even begins. If you’d told me last year that I’d be doing that I would have laughed at you. How the times have changed. Aurelia didn’t have school today but I still didn’t snap anything of him except this crappy one.
He was quite lonely today with no daddy and no david and mommy working extra-hard. When David came home and was reading his library book, Aurelia went right up him and snuggled.
And put his head right on the nook of David’s shoulder. I just about cried.
And then they played together. Even though David’s making a weird face in this one.
This is a bad shot but I love the look on Aurelia’s face.
And now the kids are sleeping and I am still working. I haven’t made art today yet either and still have a few more todo list items so I might not get to it. But that’s ok. I did a lot and I will take some serious art time this weekend if needed. Right now more urgent (and legitimately important) things are happening. This is not to say I did no art. I still sketched and I am doing my weeklong journal. Just not a full standalone art journal page. Anyhow. off to journal some and maybe – just maybe do some art. here’s to a better tomorrow. We have a 5K walk scheduled tomorrow night which should be really fun. Three Things I’m Grateful For: Three Things David’s Grateful For: Here are the sketches from this week. Wednesday, I made this girl.
the next day, was a bad day so I did this girl cause it was my exact mood at that moment.
Friday I did a fish:
on Saturday I decided to change things up and did the three mirrors:
on Sunday, I did this scene:
Monday was another scene which looks ok until you look at the original and realize how much more amazing it is and how i got my perspective and scale all wrong.
Tuesday I made another scene:
and here we are, something a bit different. I want to challenge myself, stretch, see what i like what I’m good at etc. as always some are ok others not so great. let’s see what next week brings. Here’s the next page:
I made this one immediately after the one from yesterday and I love it just as much. The full text reads: Every single dream starts with one step. take yours. Here are some details from the page:
