Weekly Reflection 2017 – 31

How I shone this week: I’ve done a lot of work this week. I’ve been working on myself, on my kids, on my work, and in my house. I am connecting with friends. I am doing the best I can. Trying to balance out what’s worth it and what needs to be done and what I love.

Things I wanted to get Done:

  • Work: I won’t lie, email’s been a nightmare. I did send Q2 analysis email and reviewed round one of september work and finished both reports for Q2. I got the day planned. So it’s not all terrible but I am still feeling more under water at work than I’d like.
  • Personal: exercised. eating clean. didn’t schedule PT, not sure I need it. didn’t do the taxes but did cash my checks. i journaled more and did both mapmaker assignments. woohoo!
  • Family: Worked with both D and N on Math and cleaned up both their rooms and closets and bought N some fun stuff for his room.

I celebrate: a whole month of taking better care of myself.

I am grateful for: having the flexibility in my life to make all this work.

I nourished myself by: good food, exercise, and good friend time this week.

Reflecting on my worries: i exercised, i ate well. i am still a bit behind but getting there. the effort i put in will still matter to me. david loved his camp. i didn’t give up. i might never catch up 🙂 i journaled!

I let go of: reading as much as i was before. i can’t do it all.

Core Desire Check-in (bold, mindful, nourish, love):

  • bold: i doubled my weights in body pump. i tried salmon despite hating it forever.
  • mindful: mindful that i want to be much kinder to my kids. i know they know i love them but sometimes i speak so much more harshly than necessary.
  • nourish: i’m going to keep trying new foods. make new fab4s now that i have my vanilla protein.
  • love: i love how much richer my life has gotten, i hope hope hope to be able to keep all this up.

What made me laugh this week: My boys. Always my boys.

What I tolerated this week: i have a bit more backache than i’d like.

My mood this week was: strong.
I forgive myself for:  constantly worrying that I will quit.
What I love right now: i love sitting in the backyard still. sitting here as i write this, in the dark but lovely air. I love it. I also love the early morning hours so much.

Here’s to a lovely week 32. Here’s to another great week of shining!

Books I Read This Week 2017 – 31

I read a bunch of books this week but most of them were short. I started my week with The Reason You’re Alive which was wonderful. Matthew Quick is so good at creating memorable characters.

Then I read Words in Deep Blue and  When Dimple Met Rishi, two very different YA novels but both about love. I enjoyed both of them.

I skipped a bunch of my queue and jumped to Watch Me Disappear hoping it would be a fast-paced novel and it was. I swallowed it up and it was okay in the end.

I then read A Beautiful, Terrible Thing knowing it was going to be sad and it was but it was also a bit annoying.

I’d started Normal a while back but never got into it. I finally finished it this week but I will say that I still didn’t fully get into it.

I ended it with Who is Rich which was better than I thought though I wouldn’t say I loved it.

Here’s to more books next week!

Nourish Me – 31

Mind:

  • I read: I’ve still been conscientious about what I’m reading. Also spending very little time on facebook or any online anything to be honest.
  • I learned: just started Stephanie’s Map Maker class but haven’t done any of the homework yet. Did finish OLW for July.
  • I watched:  Jake and I watched a few more episodes of The Billions and started a few movies but didn’t really finish any.

Body:

  • Exercise: Woohooo, another week of exercising daily!! Here’s what I did:
    • Monday:Body Pump
    • Tuesday: Vinyasa Yoga
    • Wednesday: gBarre and Release work in Mat Pilates
    • Thursday: gBarre
    • Friday: Body Pump Express and Mat Pilates
    • Saturday: 5K Walk
    • Sunday: 3mile Walk (this is usually my rest day)
  • Food: Still doing great here, I ‘ve been trying to make sure to mix things up so i can built a variety of food.
    • Veggies: Zucchini, squash, asparagus, beets, celery, cucumbers, broccoli rice and spinach.
    • Protein: Tuna, chicken breasts, ground turkey, ground turkey, chicken sausage.
    • I finally found chocolate, vanilla, cofffee and strawberry powder I like. So now I have a lot more variety. Here’s the vanilla one. and here are the others.
    • I tried avocado this week which I’ve historically hated. But I’ve grown to like them in the last week. woohoo!
    • I am still not hungry between meals. Often I am not even hungry for dinner.
    • No coffee for three weeks now. Not craving it.
  • All the others: I’ve been flossing nightly, taking my vitamin C, and putting cream on.  I will try for some face things next week. I’ve also done some work on my feet:

Soul:

  • I rested: Still sleeping like a baby. 10pm to 6am daily, including weekends. Wearing and loving earplugs. Not drinking water 2 hours before bed helps me sleep through the night. I am so grateful for the sleep!
  • I connected: Connected with several friends this week.
  • I journaled: I even journaled this week! A bunch on my own and a bunch for OLW!
  • I made art: maybe more craft than art, but did it for my OLW.

So grateful for my progress, still and hoping it sticks.

August 2017 – Ten-Minute Art – 1

For August, I decided to do something fun and easy. I have an art insert for my Traveler’s Journal so I challenged myself to do art for 10-15 minutes and then I journaled all over the page. Not all of them turned out lovely but I loved the challenge and the encouragement to do art even with just a little bit of time.

2017 Stories – 31 – Summer Camps

I never talked about the boys’ camps so I figured before they are all over, I can note them here. This year, we got only 3weeks of camps since we were in Sydney for 3 weeks and that leaves us with 3 weeks of summer left. For the first week, Nathaniel did a Destination Science camp while David stayed home and took an online Physics class. Last week they both did a rock climbing camp together and then this week Nathaniel will do a fun camp while David goes to Rowing camp.

I try to keep our camps either educational or sportsy since my kids don’t do a lot of sports during the school year. Once camps are over, we will likely take one more short vacation to say goodbye to the summer of 2017.

Living Intentionally 2017 – 31

Weekly Intention: This week’s intention is still to just to do more of what I’ve been doing. Get up early. Exercise. Show up. Do it. Eat well. Work hard. Finish things. Catch up on email. Just keep doing what I started. Show up! and do what I need to do to feel a bit more caught up and in control.

Things I want to get Done: Here’s the list for his week.

  • Work: catch up on starred email.
  • Work: send off q2 closing emails.
  • Work: review round one of september.
  • Work: finish report for q2. (and for transit)
  • Work: get C day planned.
  • Personal: exercise 6/7 days.
  • Personal: continue eating clean.
  • Personal: schedule Physical Therapy
  • Personal: check in for taxes
  • Personal: cash check
  • Personal: Journal more.
  • Personal: Do mapmaker #1 and #2
  • Family: spend time together.

This month’s intention is:  July: Shine Boldly: This builds on June a bit but it’s time to take things up a notch. Be bold. Be brave. Be loud. Shine with all your might. Since it’s almost august, I’ll also do August: August: Shine from the Inside Out: Ok you did the outside in and now it’s time to reflect again. The year is half over. How are you doing? What are you keeping on the inside? Also, it’s time to let others see the real you. Don’t be afraid. Shine. Good reminder to journal and to show up.

Ways to Shine this week:

  • One: Bold: Keep keeping the exercise, maybe try one more new thing.
  • Two: Open: open to making it work with two separate camps this week.
  • Three: Heal/Nourish: more journaling. eating one new thing.

I am looking forward to: finishing some of the todos at work that i’ve been carrying for too long.

This week’s challenges: making sure the kids’ camp schedule doesn’t interfere with exercise.

Top Goals:

  • Work: finalize september more get ready for C day.
  • Personal: exercise+food+journaling.
  • Family: one fun project with each kid. ( i didn’t do this last week)

I will focus on my core desires (bold, mindful, nourish, love) by: making one good decision at a time!

This week, I will say yes to: having faith in myself.

This week, I will say no to: giving up.

I am worried that:  i won’t exercise. i’ll stop eating well. i will continue to be behind at work. that all the effort i am putting in won’t matter. that david will hate his camp. that i will give up. that i will never catch up. that i won’t journal.

This week, I want to remember:  that i can do this.
