This month’s intention is:  August: Shine from the Inside Out: Ok you did the outside in and now it’s time to reflect again. The year is half over. How are you doing? What are you keeping on the inside? Also, it’s time to let others see the real you. Don’t be afraid. Shine. Good reminder to journal and to show up.

Ways to Shine this week:

  • One: Bold: I think i want to think about what being bolder would look like in my life right now so this will be a journaling challenge this week.
  • Two: Open: Open to new foods and eating well on the go.
  • Three: Heal/Nourish: taking some serious down time this week.

I am looking forward to: our CSA box with new-to-me veggies!

I will focus on my core desires (bold, mindful, nourish, love) by: being a bit more at home this week. i need grounding time.

This week, I will say yes to: balance.

This week, I will say no to: being unkind.

I am worried that:  i won’t exercise. i’ll stop eating well. i will continue to be behind at work. something will go wrong somewhere 🙂 i am dropping the ball on something about school.

This week, I want to remember:  that this is working. it’s all going well.

Weekly Reflection 2017 – 32

How I shone this week: This has been a tough week emotionally, physically, mentally and psychologically. I ended up spending almost the entire week at work and I had to work to continue to be my best self. I made it through the week but I know the next few weeks will continue to be challenging since there are many more conversations to be had before my workplace feels the way I want it to feel. But nonetheless, i did make healthy lunches for my kiddos every day and they each did work and played every day, too. I journaled quite a bit and of course exercised. So if I weren’t already on this path to really nourish myself, it would have been a much tougher week.

Things I wanted to get Done:

  • Work: figure out a better system for email.
  • Work: review round two of september.
  • Work: get through C day planned.
  • Work: create dashboard.
  • Work: send biweekly.
  • Personal: exercise 6/7 days.
  • Personal: continue eating clean.
  • Personal: check in for taxes
  • Personal: sign david up.
  • Personal: Journal regularly.
  • Personal: Do mapmaker #3 and OLW August.
  • Family: spend time together.
  • Family: Buy things for kids’ rooms.
  • Work: I did not figure out a solution for email just yet. I did review round 2 and i did get through C day and I sent the biweekly. Did not create dashboard yet.
  • Personal: exercised. ate clean.  didn’t do the taxes but did sign up david also did olw august and mapmaker 3. i journaled, too.
  • Family: i bought things for the kids’ rooms and but i did poorly on the spend time together.

I celebrate: making it through this week.

I am grateful for: my husband. i say this a lot but i don’t say it enough.

I nourished myself by: resting as much as possible this week.

Reflecting on my worries: i exercised, i ate well. i am still a small bit behind but getting there. the effort i put in will still matter to me. kids seem to be okay. i am journaling. more some days. but still. all is ok so far.

I let go of: being as productive as i would have liked to be this week.

Core Desire Check-in (bold, mindful, nourish, love):

  • bold: i did 3 body pump classes this week and some cardio. i spoke my mind in a meeting with a lot of executives. i said yes even when i was scared to.
  • mindful: mindful that i am feeling a lot of feelings.
  • nourish: preparing to be nourishing on the go.
  • love: i love feeling full most of the day.

What made me laugh this week: a late night meeting at work.

What I tolerated this week: feeling sore and tired and emotionally mixed at work.

My mood this week was: frustrated.
I forgive myself for:  getting distracted with news at work.
What I love right now:  i love the summer days. i wish we could have them go on for a bit longer.

Here’s to a lovely week 33. Here’s to another great week of shining!

Books I Read This Week 2017 – 32

I started the week with Made For Love which I wasn’t sure about reading but once I started I found myself wanting to keep going. It was interesting in the end and I am glad I read it.

I then jumped to the very short Make Your Bed which was fantastic advice. I love books like this which are mostly really great graduation speeches. It wasn’t as profound as the David Foster Wallace one but that’s a diamond in the rough.

I then read The Turquoise Table which I knew nothing about but I loved. I wish I could do this in my neighborhood, too, but there’s so much holding me back here.

I then read Less which I kept wanting to put down but it said it was going to be super funny. It was okay but I didn’t ever connect to it much.

I then read Rabbit Cake which I’d been looking forward to for a while. It was nice but it also wasn’t amazing.

I am now reading After On which is a bit of a crazy ride, a bit too close to home but still an engaging read.

Here’s to more books next week!

Nourish Me – 32

Mind:

  • I read: I’ve been reading a wide range lately. If I’ve read Contemporary Fiction, I try to pick SciFi or non-fiction next, etc.
  • I learned: I’ve been doing Stephanie’s Map Maker class and still have to do my August OLW.
  • I watched:  We watched Before I Fall, which I loved. And I’ve watched a few episodes of Suits but that’s it. Oh, and, A wonderful talk by Brene to Women@Google in Chicago. She is always so amazing.

Body:

  • Exercise: Woohooo, another week of exercising daily!! Here’s what I did:
    • Monday: Body Pump
    • Tuesday: Vinyasa Yoga
    • Wednesday: gBarre and Mat Pilates
    • Thursday: gBarre
    • Friday: Body Pump Express and Mat Pilates
    • Saturday: 2K Walk (my back was hurting so much that I decided to not push it.)
    • Sunday: rest day
  • Food: Still doing great here, I ‘ve been trying to make sure to mix things up so i can built a variety of food.
    • Veggies: butternut squash, spaghetti squash, eggplants, zucchini, beets, celery, cucumbers, broccoli rice and spinach.
    • Protein: Tuna, chicken breasts, salmon, ground chicken, ground turkey, chicken sausage, ground buffalo and eggs.
    • I’m trying to try a new food each week. Last week was avocado and this week was salmon.
    • I’m also trying a new exercise each week. This week was the Wed Am Barre class which was really hard.
    • I am still not hungry between meals. Often I am not even hungry for dinner.
    • No coffee for four weeks now. Not craving it.
  • All the others: I’ve been flossing nightly, taking my vitamin C, and putting cream on. I tried a face mask and already did it once, it was quite nice. I also bought a shake cup for potential travel coming in a few weeks. Trying something new here each week, too. I also got my hair Keratin done this week. I love it so. I also bought this as a reminder.

Soul:

  • I rested: Still sleeping strong. Some nights it’s a bit harder but I always fall asleep within minutes of going to bed. Waking up at 6am and exercising every day makes falling asleep super easy.
  • I connected: Connected with my friend Caroline this week for a long time, it was wonderful.
  • I journaled: I journaled almost every day! woot!!
  • I made art: I did my mapmaker homework!

So grateful for my progress, still and hoping it sticks.

2017 Stories – 32 – Wholehearted Artist and Map Maker

Early this year, I took Stephanie’s Wholehearted Artist class. I loved it but didn’t do the journaling each week. She then decided to offer MapMaker which is the same course but with Art journaling prompts added. I knew I wanted it and I am so grateful I did it. For whatever reason, I am working much harder this time and have done the first assignment (above) which was about setting my own vision. And then the second assignment (below) which is more about the spaces where I live and how I want to feel there.

This class has given me so much to think about and has changed the way I spend my time, the choices I make and has helped me move though my life with more awareness and sense of self. Love it so so much!
