2013 Sketching – Week 24

My goal for 2013 is to make three sketches a week. If I make more, great. If I don’t, that’s ok. Trying to keep the pressure low while still encouraging myself to draw.

Only two this week. Alas I had step. Here are the ones for this week:

Weekly Diary – June 8 2013

Here are some snapshots from our week:

Nathaniel’s first swimming class. He was (and still is) really scared.

after class I went up to Novato with my friend Linda to meet my coach training friends and then the boys got in the car and met me in Tiburon. I didn’t get many photos this time but I got this.

and this.

and the little one, too.

who wouldn’t look at me.

until he made his face.

they like walking on the rocks.

i like to snap photos.

and watching them persevere.

and succeed.

the morning after we got home, I woke up sweating and very feverish with a terrifying sore throat. I lived that way for 48 hours until I decided it wasn’t bearable and we all went to the doctor. As it turns out, I had strep. First time in my life. The rest of the week was a wash with a lot of pain and sleep. The boys had a little fun, though.

David danced to gangnam style. he loves it.

it took a while but we eventually took family photos too.

Nathaniel was being his funny self.

you can’t tell but I was still in a lot of pain.

but I still managed to laugh.

how can you not with that face?

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

SixBySix – Week 23

Before this week’s art here’s the important reminder: Please remember, this is personal and hand-made and thus imperfect. If you want perfect art, do not buy mine. Also one more reminder that these are pretty small. 5.5inches by 5.5inches. That’s about 14×14 centimeters). You will just get the original piece of watercolor paper with my art and signature in the back. No mounting, no frame. I don’t want to misrepresent anything. I will put a paypal button under each (you can pay with credit card or paypal.) the button doesn’t update so you will have to click through to see if it’s sold out. I will try to update them as quickly as I can and remove the button if it’s gone, but just in case. Each piece will be $35. That’s US dollars. If you have questions please leave a comment and I will reply as fast as I can.

With that here’s this week’s art:

it reads: always stop to listen to the quiet voices inside you. they will guide you.

sold, thank you

The Savor Project 2013 – Week 22

and here’s this week:

this week is a mish mosh. some from school, some from david’s camping trip, some from home, and a movie to boot.

See you next week!

A Book a Week – City of Bones

I read City of Bones cause it’s also coming to the big screen and I knew I didn’t want to see it without having read it.

I read the whole thing pretty quickly and didn’t hate it but I also didn’t really feel compelled to pick up the sequels and read them. I am not sure what that says about the book but I also can’t say it was super-terrible.

so if the genre is up your alley, maybe it’s worth a try. (then again, if this genre is your cup of tea, you’ve prolly already read this one.)

Gratitude PostCards – Week 22

Here’s this week’s card:

It says: life is not about not falling down, the trick is to keep getting up.

This card uses a template from The Crafter’s Workshop (as well as a few others.) and acrylic paint.

Weekly Diary – June 1 2013

Here are some snapshots from our week:

We went to a pick peaches and strawberries in Brentwood.

it was quite sunny.

but the boys loved it.

the little one spent some time being silly.

and making faces for me.

and finally a smile.

david took photos, of course.

strawberries were hard to pick.

but we persevered.

then it was Nathaniel’s last day at school so there was a party.

he got tattoos.

and spent fun time with play dough and daddy.

then it was photo time.

lots of laughter this time.

love these boys so much.

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.
