colored pencils aren’t my favorite medium but they work perfectly on the thin papers of my notebook.

Art Journaling – Fabriano Roma – Time to Let Go

And here’s the next Roma paper page:

The full text reads: It is time to let go.

Another one with no detail shots. I used the Tim Holtz mask and some acrylics.

I am creating multiple art journaling pages a week for July and August (and maybe longer). You can read more about it and the book I am using for these pages at the top of this blog post.

Daily Diary – September 28 2011

today started super-hectic for me. I dropped the kids off and then drove to work. I had a meeting and several things to pick up all over the building. Then I rushed back home and took Nathaniel to the doctor and we came back home for the nap.He woke up rested and cranky.

then I worked worked worked. And David came home so I got some photos.

I will never have enough of those blue eyes.

here he is writing his gratitude book.

Nathaniel wanted photos too of course.

I tried to entertain him with the lens cap.

which he wanted, too.

so I gave him and he loved it.

then david played on the new computer a bit and nathaniel watched (and bugged) him.

now i am off to do some art before I go out to meet a few friends. whirlwind of a day here and still suffering from allergies and perpetually behind everything at this point.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I set a hair appointment. I have too much gray again.
2. I am grateful that I might be going out to see friends tonight.
3. I am grateful that I went to work and had a super-productive meeting.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I read my book to mommy * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I watched some movies with daddy.
3. I am grateful that I read my treasure map book to daddy, too.

A Book a Week – Paper Towns

After reading and loving Looking for Alaska, I wanted more of the same author so I picked up Paper Towns. I wasn’t sure if I liked the book or the author.

As it turns out, I love both.

The author did not disappoint at all. I loved this book as well. Now I have to go find more book by this author. It’s always fun for me to discover new authors I love. Even though it’s a young adult novel and I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, if you like well-written books with interesting characters, this is recommended by me.

Yey for new-to-me authors!

Time is Passing Very Quickly, It’s Unreal that You’re Turning Two

This is one of the projects I did for Authentique Paper for CHA Summer.

Journaling Reads:
My sweet boy, i can’t believe you turned two. You are supposed to be my baby! You are already enjoying the beginnings of toddlerhood. You have strong opinions and aren’t afraid to express them like immediately breaking into tears when you don’t get your way. But you’re also so kind and loving and hug us all all day long. I want to make sure we enjoy every moment because time passes so fast and soon you won’t be little anymore. Happy birthday my son, I love you!

Art Journaling – Fabriano Roma – Grateful for You

And here’s the next Roma paper page:

The full text reads: I am very grateful for you.

No detail shots for this one, sorry! It’s really quite simple though but I still like it.

Daily Diary – September 27 2011

I seem to have been taken over by a huge allergy attack which always exhausts and frustrates me. But alas, it will pass. It’s just making me slow right now. But I tend to be better when I am slow so I am taking advantage of it. I started my morning with photos of the kids, which is rare for me.

David had class photos today so he was dressed in full-uniform.

and I had to snap a photo of him in it.

after he went to school, Nathaniel played for a while. and even posed for me.

he rode the truck and kept saying he wished david was there so he could ride the other truck.

one last shot of David when he came back from school and that was it for the day.

my eyes are watering constantly so I am off to rest a bit. I hope you’re doing well and I apologize for being behind in comments, I promise to catch up soon!

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I have another Beta out the door.
2. I am grateful that we had company over for lunch today. Rare but nice.
3. I am grateful that I have a caring and conscientious pediatrician.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I had P.E. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I tied my own shoelaces today.
3. I am grateful that I’m watching a movie on the computer.

Weekly Art Journal – Weeklong for August 29

This week was the end of my book, so I used the last page but since it’s quite small and I was dumb enough to make it even smaller with a wide-trim edge I had very little room for anything. To top it off, I forgot to take a completely empty photo so you have a photo after day 1. You can see how I drew lines to make sure I’d be able to fit in all 7 days.

Alas, it’s pretty boring. Next week will be similar, I’m afraid.

And here’s the filled page:

And that’s the end of book one. On to number two.

Daily Diary – September 26 2011

Well the day was hectic but uneventful, thankfully. When I went to pickup Nathaniel from school, he was wearing a tail so I had to take a photo.

When David comes home from school he always likes to tell me stories:

and i like to snap photos while he does.

Nathaniel gets jealous so I try him next:

entertain him with the lens cap.

which he loves.

and he puts it on his head and says “hat”

plans for tonight are sparse. A little art and a lot of sleep. How about you?

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I talked on the phone with a good friend from my childhood.
2. I am grateful that work went mostly uneventfully today, here’s to hoping it’s the same tonight.
3. I am grateful that despite being super-tired, I still made it through all my tasks today including the 5K.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that it was Anthony’s birthday (and I had some muffins!). * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that we practiced for the fitness challenge at school.
3. I am grateful that I’m reading my Turkish folktales book.

I Love and Adore you Forever

I had the honor of being the September guest designer Jenni Bowlin’s kit club. Here’s the last of the layouts I made:

Journaling Reads:
no matter what you do and how many times you mess up and how much I might get angry or yell at you or punish you, I will always, always always love you and give you more chances. You are my everything and I will love you forever. And I will make sure you know that I love you for just who you are and just the way you are. You deserve to be loved and I want you to know that even if I mess up everything else, I love you.

And some details:

Daily Diary – September 25 2011

Happy Sunday! I started this morning with exercise and then had a client shoot. The family is my old manager and I’ve been taking pictures of them for a few years now and it’s lovely to see how the kids are growing up over the years.

When the shoot was over, I came home and worked hard to make up for yesterday. I made two art journal pages, a layout, and a sketch. Then I took just a few shots of the kids. The big boy:

and the little boy:

who’s smiling at Daddy, here.

then we played bingo and blokus for family night and now I am trying to catch up on some blog posts. Then maybe a bit of reading and we’re done with this week. Here’s to hoping next week is calm and quiet.

Three Things I’m Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I felt productive and calm and peaceful today.
2. I am grateful that we had some family time. I love family night.
3. I am grateful that I did a backup of my computer. I don’t do it nearly frequently enough.

Three Things David’s Grateful For:
1. I am grateful that I watched some batman movies. * {his pick for the journal}
2. I am grateful that I played chess with daddy.
3. I am grateful that we played Blokus.

Reading with David – Owls in the Family

David says:
I gave this story five stars because I thought it was really cool that they had owls as part of their family. I really liked that the owls walked and liked people and sitting on people’s shoulders.

I liked how Wol was protective of the boys and scared the bullies away when they were hitting the boys. I also like how Billy rescued Weeps and how Wol protected him and took care of him immediately. I also like how Wol scared the crows and Billy’s daddy shot them for being mean. I thought it was funny that Billy’s mom had to feed them breakfast so they wouldn’t follow Billy to school. And I really liked how the owls were allowed in the house and time and how gentle they were.

I was happy that the owls got a new home even though Billy had to move away, he found a good and happy home for the owls.
