The Savor Project – Week 10

And here’s the spread for week nine:

here’s a closer up of the left side:

The first story here is David learning to tie his shoelaces. The second one is about Nathaniel’s creativity and the third is about a burying ceremony I did for Body Restoration.

And here’s the right side:

The first one is coloring the paper airplanes we made during family night and the second one is about putting grass seeds in the backyard.

As usual, the bottom has my art and our weekly family photo.

So there we go. So far, so good. Loving getting to savor these memories again and again.

Happy Savoring.

The Savor Project was supposed to be a weekly project for 2012. You can read about my setup here.

A Book a Week – Will Grayson Will Grayson

I am a huge fan of John Green so I don’t know why I kept putting off reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson but I finally picked it up.

And, of course, I loved it. I just love the way he writes. I’d never read the other author but I liked his parts, too. Though, of course, not as much as John’s. I love his characters, writing, pacing, etc. I have now read all but one of his books (this post was written months ago, before his January book released but I already have that on preorder.) and I am going to save it for another downturn in my reading list (as it often occurs) because I know I will love it.

I have simply never been disappointed by this author.

Daily Sketching – Week 50

Here are the sketches from last week:

Sunday:

Monday:

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

I didn’t get to sketch on Thursday and Friday because I was at work all day and went right to sleep when I got home.

Saturday:

that’s it for this week.

Daily Sketching is a weekly project for 2012. You can see a detailed post on my steps here.

These are my favorite moments

This is a layout I made for Maya Road for winter CHA.

And the journaling says:
There are so many things that I love about you two but at the very top of my list is seeing the two of you laugh together. Even though these aren’t the highest quality photos I’ve ever taken I just love everything about them. I love how you’re lying on the couch together and laughing with so much joy.The two of you just light up every single of my days. I love you.

Letters with Nathaniel – F

As I mentioned, I plan to keep this project simple and fun for both of us. So, I did the same thing with the letter F as I did for letter A. I cut them all up and then, Nathaniel and I glued them down together to create this simple page:

Like last time, w e talked about each of the words and then differentiated between big F and little f. Then we colored all the F’s.

Here he is gluing:

and coloring

Yey for week 6. Nathaniel seems to still be enjoying the process so I am grateful. He loves looking at it all week long!

Weekly Diary – March 17 2012

When I thought last week was rough, I had no idea how much rougher it was going to get, I guess. This was one of the roughest weeks I remember having. I am still in the middle of the craziness I am afraid so I won’t get into detail. I wasn’t at home much all week so there are few photos this week. Jake took a few to help me, too. I wanted to make sure to get them here because I know some of my family checks it. And, mom and Yona, I know you’ve been worried. I am ok. Just struggling. It will pass. I love you.

And, here are some highlights from last week:

David working on a big art piece.

Nathaniel working on his letters.

more letter-fun.

he really likes standing up on the chairs and it drives me insane cause it scares me a lot.

early last week as I worked like crazy at home, Nathaniel found ways to entertain himself. With food,

drawing,

watching movies,

and more movies.

here’s one Jake took while I was at work.

and a more serious one.

Nathaniel watching more movies.

They also played with stickers a lot.

and then our family shots today. I like how David’s laughing sneakily here.

and tickle time was the best part of my whole week.

I needed that laughter so much. I am so so grateful.

and here we go. On these tough weeks, I am extra grateful for my family. I want to hug them tighter and closer. Here’s to hoping next week shines some light on my work.

Journey into Collage – Week 11

Page eleven:

And another spread inspired by Body Restoration. All collage elements are by Melody Ross. I added tissue paper in the background. The text says “Make sure to do what feeds your soul and heart everyday.” Here’s what’s on my list: creating, walks outside, trying new things, reading, time with friends, serving others, learning new things, being grateful, reaching out, time alone, seeking light, hoping, believing, and working on dreams.” I think it’s crucial to take time every day to fill your soul. I try to take time to figure out what fills my soul.

more next week.

And here’s the next page:

Well here we go. More coming next week.

The Savor Project – Week 9

And here’s the spread for week nine:

here’s a closer up of the left side:

The first story here is my book club read: The sense of an Ending. Then one about how Nathaniel’s always watching David and whatever he does. Then one about David reading all the time and how that’s fine by me. And one about how easy Nathaniel is while I work during the day.

And here’s the right side:

The first one is about our tickle time and how much I love it and the second one is about how Nathaniel can get his daddy (and me) to do anything he wants by saying please.

As usual, the bottom has my art and our weekly family photo.

So there we go. So far, so good. Loving getting to savor these memories again and again.

Happy Savoring.

A Book a Week – One Day

I wanted to read One Day before I saw the movie (which I knew I was going to want to see.)

I must admit that the book felt too long at parts and I kept wanting to put it down or felt bored with it. I liked both of the characters okay but I didn’t feel a strong connection with either. Though I could relate to the story and their connection, etc. So I kept reading.

And despite not being able to guess the twisty ending and despite hating the twist, I still did enjoy the book. It felt like a satisfying meal in the end. It was interesting to read a novel that takes place over a lifetime of two characters.

And we did see the movie which was lovely.

Just in Case

You’re wondering where I’ve been, I have a bit of an overload at work so the thoughts posts won’t resume until I’ve resolved the problems. Same goes for email and comment replies. I am deeply sorry if you’re waiting for something from me. My attention is fully on work and whatever’s left of it goes to my husband and kids for now. I’ll be back soon. In the meantime the art posts should continue.

thank you for understanding.
