This week’s inspiration comes from this pin. I am sorry the photo is low quality. My camera and I have been fighting on focus. I drew this with my Micron pen and colored with color pencils. prompt says: today i know that i never want to forget I wrote about how awesome david’s presentation was and how i want to remember my kids are different from me and that i want to cultivate who they are as they are. Today I Know is a project for 2014. You can read more about it here.
I cannot tell you how excited I was about Allegiant’s release. I’ve been a huge fan of the Divergent series and I couldn’t wait for the final book. I waited and waited and waited. But then when the book came out, I wouldn’t read it. I read a few pages and I kept putting it down. I am not sure what was going on but I just couldn’t get into it. The reviews were bad, too, which made me sad. I think it was that I didn’t want my favorite story to be ruined. When I finally sat down to really read it, I ended up leaving it with mixed emotions. I won’t say I hated it because I really still love this story. I love Veronica Roth’s writing, characters and plot. Even though it wasn’t my favorite of the three, I still love this whole series. This week is Nathaniel’s birthday, part two!
so happy. Savor Project is a project for 2014. You can read more about it here.
We take a little break from Life Book this week, to look at a page I made for My Mind’s Eye. I liked their new flairs and decided to just have fun with them. It’s a simple, quick page. But It was fun. Sometimes doing art is just about having fun. Sometimes it’s quick and fun. The text on the sticker says: It’s the Little Things that Make Life Worth Living Isn’t that true? We forget that so often. But it’s really the deepest truth there is. Life is all about the tiny little moments. The ones that are full of joy.
so here we are. Remember This is a project for 2014. You can read more about it here.
For this week, I picked ask. Part of being creative is asking more, asking differently, asking others for their perspective. Asking (instead of telling) opens up my world, allows it to have other possibilities. It also prolongs the listening. If I am asking, I am not talking, I am listening to the reply. I am asking more, deeper, differently. I like all these options. I like the idea of choosing to ask and not tell. That’s my plan this week. Ask differently. Ask more. Ask. The lettering I used here comes from this pin. The image here is supposed to be a man holding up a question mark. Listen with Intent is a project for 2014. You can read more about it here.
This week David and I switched to a class by coursera.org and it’s writing class. Learning with David is a project for 2014 that I am doing with my 9-year-old son. You can read more about it here.
Ender’s Shadow was also for book club. (Alas, I have three different book clubs so I do a lot of book club reading.) This is another one of those novels I had meant to read for years and years and years but never did. So this book club was a perfect excuse to finally sit and read it. I thought it would be long and hard to read. And it was not at all. I read through the whole thing in a weekend. It was fun and interesting and quite enjoyable. If you’re like me and this has been on your list for a while, I recommend you pick it up. This week is about Nathaniel’s birthday – part1!

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. This little bird was calling to me. I used stem stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is patience. Stitching Circles is a project for 2014. You can read more about it here.
Life Book week twelve was taught by Traci Bautista. I love Traci’s style but it’s nothing like mine. This was another one I had to sit on for a few days. When I finally sat down to create, I decided to just have fun with it. I have mixed feelings about the final results. Another page I would have never really done on my own. But I like it too. It’s different. Vibrant. alive. The text says: You are not your thoughts. Something both David and I need to remember more often. Remember This is a project for 2014.
