Listen with Intent – Week 25

For this week, I picked opposite. Sometimes, when thinking about a situation or when faced with something I’ve dealt with many times before, what helps is thinking in a completely opposite way to what my instincts or my past behavior might suggest. I like the idea of doing something completely different and seeing what happens. That’s my intent this week.

The lettering I used here comes from this pin.

The image here is supposed to be two arrows pointing opposite ways.

Nathaniel Reads to Mommy – Week 12

Nathaniel Reads to Mommy is a project for 2014 that I am doing with my 4.5-year-old son. You can read more about it here.

Today I Know – Week 24

This week’s inspiration comes from Lisa Congdon’s line drawing class again. She had a week on line drawing on photographs so I wanted to give it a try. I picked one of my old photos and added line work to the background. I then painted the background with acrylic paints. I like the darkish look. Even though you can’t see the text, it’s clear if you look in person.

prompt says: today i know that my life matters

I wrote about how much i care about my future, my kids, and life.

Stitching Circles – Week 23

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. I love this little tree. I used stem stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is enchant.

A Book a Week – The Age of Innocence

The Age of Innocence was also for book club. (Alas, I have three different book clubs so I do a lot of book club reading.) This is another one of those novels I had meant to read for years and years and years but never did.

So this book club was a perfect excuse to finally sit and read it.

I thought it would be long and hard to read. And it was not at all. I read through the whole thing in a weekend. It was fun and interesting and quite enjoyable.

If you’re like me and this has been on your list for a while, I recommend you pick it up.

Savor Project – 2014 – Spread Eighteen

This week is all about Yosemite!!

so happy.

Remember This – Week 24

Life Book week fifteen was taught by Tam. It was all about quirky animals but I chose to do birds since they are my 2014 animals.

This page uses acrylic markers and paints.

The text on the page says: You are not alone, choose to belong.

I specifically put the one bird alone there to go in line with the text. We’re all quirky in our own ways so he’s no more/less quirky than the others, just differently.

Listen with Intent – Week 24

For this week, I picked what else. As in what else is there here? What else could I be listening for? What else could they be saying? What else am i missing? What else am i assuming? What else could this person be trying to communicate? What else could be going on? What else, what more, what different is here? The goal this week is to go deeper. Look for more, different, look beyond.

The lettering I used here comes from this pin.

The image here is supposed to be mountains to imply looking beyond something. Looking for other things on the horizon.

Weekly Diary – June 15 2014

I am finally catching up on my photos i think this should be the last of them:

we went strawberry picking

it was quite windy and cold, which is actually nice

since it’s usually really hot.

the boys had a wonderful time. the berries were delicious.

and they were so happy.

we intended to pick just a bit.

but we couldn’t stop.

it was just too much fun.

David performed “Demons” for his school Talent Show. He was really awesome and it was such a brave thing to do. We were very proud of him.

Nathaniel finished Preschool and one of the classmates’ mom had a little graduation ceremony.

they got to make cap and gowns.

and waited in line for their little package.

he looks unhappy but he was really happy the whole day.

when we went back for his portfolio we snapped a photo with his teachers.

and then it was family photo time.

we made lots of funny faces.

nathaniel’s “blankie” made an appearance.

and then it’s tickle time.

my favorite!!

and here we go. so grateful for my life. i hope your week was lovely, too.

Today I Know – Week 23

This week’s inspiration comes from this pin. I loved this one and wanted to see if I could do anything that resembled it at all.

It’s all watercolors. I did it while I was getting my hair done so it’s more haphazard than usual and I don’t love how it ended up but that’s ok. I still am glad I tried.

prompt says: today i know what it feels like to work toward letting go of

I wrote about releasing, letting go of all the past I am holding on to. Letting go of things i hold on to all day long.

Stitching Circles – Week 22

This week’s stitching also comes from urban threads. I loved this angel. I used stem stitch and back stitch on this one. The little word is generous.
